Jewel's POV
I opened my eyes again to the annoying beeping of the heart monitor, why do they have to be so freaking loud?
Scanning the room my violet eyes meet a pair of icy blue ones. I freeze as I look at the red haired woman sitting before me, i can see her gaze soften slightly as she talks.
"You're finally awake, it's been a couple of hours. You do remember me, don't you?"
I nod in answer to her question, I recognize her as the one who found me in my room, though I don't know her name.
She smiles slightly, causing her face to appear more friendly and open. I find myself relaxing a bit, I hadn't even realized how tense I had gotten.
"Well, my name is Natasha. I don't think I properly introduced myself earlier. I would ask your name but you don't have one, do you?"
I shake my head, wondering how she could have found out.
"Well, we'll have to give you a name at some point." She paused, "actually, we already have one, if you like it we can keep it, ok?"
I nod slowly, interested to hear what name they have for me.
"How do you feel about 'Jewel'?"
I ponder the name silently, I know where the idea likely came from. I was a part of Hydra's 'project jewel'. It has a nice ring to it though, and I think that it's a very pretty name. I nod my acceptance, pulling my lips into a small smile as I do.
"Great! From now on you will be Jewel! So, Jewel, are you hungry?"
At the mention of food my stomach grumbles. Loudly.
"I'll take that as a yes."
Natasha smiles as she gets up and turns the machines off, unhooking me from tubes and wires as she does.
"I'm going to bring you to meet the rest of the Avengers and we can get food then, does that sound alright?"
I nod, not entirely eager to see the others but the promise of something to eat is too tempting to pass up. I stand slowly, legs slightly wobbly from disuse. Natasha waits patiently, allowing me time to regain my balance before we leave the room.
She leads me down a maze of hallways before we reach an elevator. Stepping in, Natasha says, "take us to the living area, please, Jarvis."
I look at her confused, who is she talking to? Before a disembodied voice replies, startling me into shrinking back.
"Of course, Ms. Romanoff, would you like me to inform the others of our guest?"
"That would probably be a good idea, remember to let them know to be cautious around her, she's still extremely jumpy and we want her to feel welcome."
"Right away, Ms. Romanoff."
I stare at Natasha, the confusion on my face clear as day for her to see.
She gives a short laugh before explaining, "that's Jarvis, the AI that runs the tower. Tony created him, you'll meet Tony in a minute along with the rest."
She takes the time we are in the elevator to explain Jarvis and a bit of what he does. I gather that he is basically a super-smart robotic butler for them.
The elevator arrives at the designated floor, doors opening to reveal a hallway similar to the ones on the level we were on before. Natasha leads me down through a couple of doors before stopping at one.
"Are you ready?"
I nod, I'm as ready as I'm going to get right now.
She opens the door to expose a large lounge-like room, with some couches and chairs gathered around a large TV on one wall and another wall entirely window.
A pool table sits in the middle of the room, along with what looks like air hockey and fooseball. There are a couple of doors leading to other rooms but I can't quite see into them.
