Conrad and I walked to a small study that had been set aside so we could spend time together just the two of us before pictures and the actual reception.
"We did it." He exclaimed lifting me up and spinning me around.
"Best day ever." I chuckled kissing him.
We sat on the couch with my legs over him and his hand in my hair.
"Do we really have to wait until after the reception?" He breathed against the skin on my chest.
"No offense but you can't get me back to looking this good if we make love the way I want to make love to you right now." I sighed.
"That's a completely fair statement." He smiled.
"We have three weeks of vacation. I'm sure we'll spend at least half of that in bed." I teased.
"Undoubtedly. Are you ready to do this?" He asked.
"I'm ready." I smiled.
We walked out into the courtyard where we were to do our formal pictures.
Conrad and I took a barrage of couple pictures before being joined by our entire wedding party, the groomsmen alone, the bridesmaids alone, his father and grandparents, my family. The I posed with my family, then my bridesmaids and his groomsmen. Then Conrad posed with his family then his groomsmen.
My dad took the microphone and cleared his throat.
"It is my great pleasure to introduce my wonderful daughter Dr. Meghan Hawkins and her new husband Dr. Conrad Hawkins." He announced.
After our grand entrance Conrad and I had our first dance.
Conrad and I both chose a song to surprise the other during our first dance. We started with mine.
I laid my head on his shoulder as we danced effortlessly letting the songs speak to us as my song ended and transitioned into his.
I tried hard not to cry listening to the song he chose for me. As the song came to a close my father cut in for the father daughter dance I chose for him.
"You're mom is so proud of you, Meghan." He whispered as we danced.
"I can feel her." I answered letting myself cry a little.
"She wouldn't miss this for anything." He held me tightly.
I returned to my husband after the dance and sat down next to him for our wedding dinner of Blackberry Goat Cheese Salad followed by Grilled Rib-Eye Steaks with Gorgonzola sauce and Roasted Garlic and Parmesan Potatoes.
My sister and maid of honor stood up to deliver the reading she chose to honor us.
"Can you imagine the ocean without a sandy beach? A blue sky without white, puffy clouds? That's how I feel about my beautiful sister Meghan and Conrad. They just belong together. We couple things not because they are just the same but because the compliment each other. The saltiness of pretzels and the sweetness of chocolate. The fruitiness of wine and the savory flavor of cheese. Meghan and Conrad will enjoy a long marriage because they too bring out the best in each other. You both are fully original and complete but somehow made even better by your spouse. As husband and wife I wish you much success in discovering more ways to improve yourselves and each other. Those of us gathered here today already think you are both pretty great. So, I offer this blessing as a simple maiden. May yours be a love that is never forsaken. May yours be a home that is filled with gladness. That you are able to weather any sorrow or sadness. May you be blessed to become a father and mother. May your hopes all be realized as two become one. Let's all raise a glass and bear witness to true love and devotion, this amazing couple to bless." She read earning her applause.
Devon, Conrad's best man stood up.
"I haven't known Meghan and Conrad very long but in the time I've known them I've never seen anything but love in their eyes when they look at one another. They truly are one another's rock, solace and home. I am so honored to be a part of this incredible wedding and watching them proclaim their love for all to see. To Conrad and Meghan." He smiled at us.
We decided that I would be the one to give our thank you speech.
"Conrad and I want to thank you all for being here. It means the world to us to have you here today. Thank you all for being our support system, and our encouragement. For loving us through the ups and downs in life. You have helped make us who we are and for that we are forever grateful. Please enjoy tonight. Let it be but a small gift for all you've done for us. You are our favorite people in the world and we love you. Thank you."
Our baker, Eric Cantor wheeled our Key lime cake with white chocolate buttercream, pure white with cascading white sugar flowers and clear sugar diamonds and gems, into the center of the dance floor.
Conrad took my hand and we walked up to it.
"This is stunning, Eric. Thank you." I gushed leaning into Conrad.
When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change 'cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause girl you're amazing
Just the way you are
Yeah
Together we took the white cake knife and sliced into the bottom tier of our cake.
In front of the cameras we fed each other our wedding cake.
The cake was pushed off to the side and the dance floor opened.
Conrad and I had a cocktail and more cake before personally thanking our grandparents and families; our wedding party.
Before I knew it is was time for the bouquet and garter toss.
First the women who were unmarried created a group behind me.
Once the music started I took my bouquet in both hands and launched it behind me.
Whole room gets to spinnin' from the second that you walk in
And baby you look good all day, all night
You look good, so fresh, so fine
You look good, got everybody watching you like cameras in Hollywood
Baby you look good
Elena caught my bouquet.
"Maybe he is the one." I whispered winking at he walking over to sit down in the chair so Conrad could remove my garter.
I shivered as I felt his teeth against the skin of my thigh as he pulled the garter off.
Sexy can I, just pardon my manners
Girl how you shake it, got a playa like (oh)
It's a Kodak moment, let me go and get my camera
All I wanna know is, sexy can I
Conrad flung the garter into the crowd of unmarried men that attended our wedding.
Justin, Elena's boyfriend caught the garter. I smirked at Conrad.
Conrad and I were ready to start our honeymoon. Our guests gathered at the door that lead us out to the hallway so we could retire up to the master bedroom to spend the night before leaving on our three week honeymoon. They created almost like a tunnel for us to leave through. One final song played for our exit into our new lives together.
