[third pov]
"Gymnastics background? Don't you mean sneaky around and stealing?" Jay asks with a chuckle. Jay, Carlos and Corazon made their way to the tourney field for tryouts. Carlos was at first hesitating about trying out but when Corazon asked him he answered with a confident smile and said that 'of course he would try out'. She walked in between the boys and looked to her right to see Jay with his signature smirk on his face.
"Oh shut up, son of Jafar. It's not I'm just going to say that to AK's. The poor girl is already scared of me." Corazon huffs. They arrive at the tourney field and they split ways. She quickly says a 'good luck' to the boys before walking off to the other cheerleaders. She noticed Audrey from yesterday. She has her pink dress replaced for a blue with yellow cheerleading outfit.
"Hey Corazon, right?" Audrey flashes a fake smile to the girl. Corazon reflects the fake smile and sees Jane making her way to her. "Well Jane said that you apparently are very good, so I don't think you need my luck—"
"You actually came to tryouts?" Jane interrupts Audrey, a little surprised at the presence of her roommate. Corazon shifts her gaze and nods at her with a neutral face. There's not a long time to talk because Audrey wants everyone's attention so they can start. Audrey and two other cheerleaders showed the routine the newbies had to perform. The girls who were trying out needed to form groups of three and learn the routine within ten minutes before showing. Corazon was paired with two girls she didn't know. One introduced herself as Lonnie, daughter of Mulan. The other girl was too scared to look Corazon in the eyes so she just looked down. Corazon shrugged and they started going over the routine. Jane, as co-captain, called Corazon's group to the front to perform the routine. The three girls started dancing on the music. The shy girl messed up by twirling the wrong way and stopped after that. Lonnie and Corazon continued. At the end Corazon added a few flips and a round off. Standing in her end pose multiple cheerleaders and even tourney players, who hadn't started tryouts yet, started clapping.
"Wohoo, Corazon!" Jay yelled proudly from the other side of the field. They were huddled with the coach to go through everyone's positions in the game but he wasn't listening. She looked up to him and saw him hit Carlos as he stared at her. She waved at the boys, only Carlos returning the wave.
"That was amazing!" Jane said, mostly to Corazon. The shy girl had left the field in embarrassment and Lonnie had walked to the side of the field but had a proud smile on her face. Audrey just rolled her eyes and mumbled something inaudible. "You're so making the team." Jane added. She wasn't that tense and scared around Corazon anymore. "And I can say that because I'm co-captain." She whispered with a wink. Corazon smiled and walked over to Lonnie who had taken a seat on the bleachers to watch the tryouts for tourney.
"Hey. Hey! Hey, you lost boy! Put your helmet on! Get out of the kill zone!" The coach for tourney yelled. Corazon looked up at the field and saw Carlos confused walking around the field with the helmet in his hand.
"Carlos!" She yelled. His head snapped up at the sound of her soft voice. She motioned for him to turn around and get out of the red zone. He sent her two thumbs up for helping and she chuckles at the confused boy. He placed the helmet over his head and ran to a nearby goal. Jay stormed from one side of the field to the other. Passing everyone and the kill zone easily. Hitting someone here and bumping into someone there but he made it to the other side. Carlos turned around and saw Jay running directly at him at a high speed with the ball on his bat.
"No no. Jay! It's me! It's Carlos! Wait, stop Jay. No no no!" Carlos exclaimed, eventually using the shield to hide behind. Jay jumped on Carlos' shield and made the goal. Everyone looked at Jay astonished. The coach yelled Jay over and Carlos followed him shyly. Corazon jumped up from the bleachers and walked over to comfort the platinum haired boy.
"I call that raw talent. Come meet me later and I'll show you something you haven't seen before, a rulebook." Coach said proud, looking at Jay. "Welcome to the team, son." Corazon arrived to the tourney players and gave Carlos a side hug. At first he looked weirdly at her but slowly a blush crept up on his cheeks.
"You ever thought about band?" The coach asks Carlos. Everyone around him chuckles and he feels the hugging girl shake, laughing as well. Jay pats his back but stops when he sees the girl at Carlos' side.
"I'll work with him, coach." Prince Ben proposes, his eyes going between coach and Carlos. Carlos smiles gladly at Ben and he nods at him. The tourney players walk back to the field to continue playing.
"You weren't that bad, C." Corazon whispers, letting go off him. He scoffs at her when he sees she's trying to muffle her laugh. He is fast to replace the unamused expression with a goofy smile. "Jay is just very aggressive."
"If someone just had given me some heads up." He sighs, looking down at the brown haired girl.
"You better train well with Ben because I made the cheerleading team!" She squealed. "And I'm not just cheering for Jay." She adds, looking at the flirt who was standing with a few cheerleaders. Carlos chuckles and nods at her.
"For you of course, princess Corazon."
