Unsent Letters from an American Auror | Part 2

January 1928

My dear Queenie,
     I miss Newt already, and I've just arrived home. It doesn't feel like home without you. I know that I'm going to have nightmares tonight. Without Newt, it seems inevitable.
     I know that I should be writing to him instead of you, but there's so much up in the air between us that I wouldn't know what to say.
     I really wish that you and Credence hadn't joined Grindelwald; Nagini is right: his path of seduction and violence can't truly help either of you. I wish you could return home and that everything would go back to normal.
     I have to go back to work tomorrow to testify about Pere Lachaise. I'm not looking forwards to it. I just know that they're going to misunderstand the situation.
     I promised Newt I would write him as soon as I arrived home, so I suppose I'll simply report that Jacob's opening up his bakery again and that I have a lot of paperwork to file. Also that I already miss him terribly.
     Mercy Lewis, Queenie, I think I might be falling in love with Newt. If you were here, you'd be able to give me some much needed clarity.

[Ok, this is one she actually sent, because writer's block has been giving me hell since July.]

Dear Newt,
     Jacob is reopening his bakery in a few days, and we're both scheduled to go into Macusa to be "questioned" (interrogated) about what happened at the cemetary. Afterwards, I'll hopefully be allowed to continue working, but knowing Macusa, It'll probably be a week before everything blows over. Madam Picquery was kind enough to grand Jacob amnesty (after I did some groveling. You know, I think she might actually have enjoyed it).
     The apartment feels so big without Queenie here. Does your house feels empty now that we've all left? I know that you still have your beasts, and your brother. Speaking of, how is Theseus these days? Is he handling Leta's death well?
     So how have you been? I think I asked you that exact question in my first letter to you. Everything was so different back then, right?
     I believe that the International Confederation of Wizards will be forming a group of Aurors to track down Grindelwald, and I'm wondering of you think I should see about joining.
     Say hello to Pickett, the Swooping Evil, the Niffler, Dougal, the Zouwu, and the rest of the creatures for me.
