Change
There was only one good thing that had happened on her birthday. Her team had won the game. That day had also explained a few things. Those ‘dreams’ she thought she had; they were real. She knew what the letter meant when it said it might change her life. She also got a charm on her bracelet. It was similar to how she looked in cat form. One thing was for sure; her life was changing in a great blur.
A part of her new routine, Rebecca met her on some mornings, around six, to help her learn to control her changing. Lennae started sleep better because of this. She could participate more in activities now that she could change.
The strangest of all, she got along with people. She made friends easily now. Her best friend was Rebecca. She was the one who was always there to help or chat or just mess around with. The others, Mia and Brittney mainly, usually were busy. She hoped she wouldn’t have to leave camp since her parents didn’t know she was there.

Lennae ran across the woods in her cat form. Rebecca and she were getting ready for the race on Friday. Lennae was faster but Rebecca had more endurance. They stopped near camp.
“You are quick,” Rebecca said, catching her breath.
“And you have great endurance,” Lennae replied. She handed Rebecca a bottle of water. They quickly gulped it down. “Are we tomorrow?”
“Yes. You need to practice changing quickly for the race because there are certain parts you need to be a cat or a human,” Rebecca said as she leaned against a tree.
Lennae knocked Rebecca over when she changed forms while jumping. Rebecca turned to her grey cat form and tussled with Lennae. They rolled and rolled across the grass, laughing as they went.
They stopped when they hit a fence. Lennae bounced up quickly. “Wow. I don’t remember that being there,” she murmured. Lennae grabbed on to the fence and started climbing up it.
“Get down here,” Rebecca hissed. “Haven’t you heard the saying ‘Curiosity killed the cat?’” Why did she always get stuck with the ones who got in trouble?
“Oh come on. What is the worst that could happen? It is not like we’ll get caught,” Lennae said, rolling her eyes and still climbing.
Suddenly Lennae heard her name shouted in an urgent way. She looked around wildly and lost her balance which made her fall of the fence. She finally caught sight of what had scared her friend.
“DOG!!!” Lennae yelled. She shot towards the camp. Rebecca was right on her tail, literally, right on her tail. “Get off me!”
“Sorry!" Rebecca mewed, jumping to the side so they could keep running.
Lennae stopped when she heard someone laughing behind them. She turned around to see a boy, of about eleven, from the white cabin. Lennae whispered something to Rebecca in which she nodded agreement in.
Lennae laughed as something landed on the boy’s head. She turned human. “Nice one Rebecca!” she yelled up into the tree, where Rebecca was.
“Oh, crud. Why did you do that?” muttered the boy under his breath. There was a pile of mud in his hair. He wiped some of it out.
“Why did you chase us?” said Rebecca from behind him, taking him by surprise. She laughed when he fell in a pile of mud. They gave each other a high five over his head.
“No one around here enjoys doing pranks. I just want to have some fun every now and then and I usually get in trouble for it,” he said. His face then brightened a little as if he had and idea. “You guys are playing the yellow team next, right?”
