CHAPTER 11 : CALAMITY

A reddish gloomy shrouded the sky all over Alddbell, including Kirito's house where the others are taking shelters. Obviously, Kirito and the others don't know anything about the condition they are in right now, except for Naofumi and Raphtalia who used to dealing with the situation. A wave of calamity once again reappearing out of nowhere in this world and about to bring the entire city engulfed in darkness.

A fierce battle are having by both Naofumi and Raphtalia as they helped the villagers near their location against the undeads and bunch of monsters that appeared out of the portal above the skies.

" Now! Raphtalia! " Naofumi commanded his partner as he blocked the enemy's attack that intended to stormed up the villagers.

" Yes " As fast as she could, Raphtalia furiously slashes the targeted enemies and parrying any enemy's attack that come at her " Naofumi-sama, what'd we do ?, seems there's no end to them  " 

Having a back to back with Raphtalia, Naofumi scanning his surroundings as he cautiously brace up his shield. " How about the civilians? " 

" That would be difficult taking them to the shelters, especially with this amounts of monsters " Raphtalia steadied her sword as she cautiously watch her surroundings

If this is carry on, there'll be a great numbers of  fall victims, besides we still don't know the exact location of the soul eater, this is different from the wave we encountered in Melromarc. Naofumi thought of something " Raphtalia, go get the civilians out of here, i will draw their attention "

Raphtalia gasped a bit hearing Naofumi's idea, then she nods in agreement thinking that Naofumi will prioritize civilian's safety than himself " Okay, Naofumi-sama be careful " Raphtalia says as she dashed out of the crowd.

" Yeah " Naofumi says as he dashed separately from Raphtalia, as he far away from Raphtalia he use his shield's skill " Hate reaction! " This skill draws any monster around and storm after him  

" Right here Zombie! Undead! " Naofumi says as he sprinting as best as he could to draw the monsters away from Raphtalia while she get the civilians to safety.

Naofumi's plan worked smoothly until a large undead carrying a massive greatsword approaching him with a glare of a hungry beast. " Shit, that things huge, two times then the regular one " as he thought to himself the large beast launch its attack towards Naofumi, but with his reflexes Naofumi blocked it with his short shield. The gap of power between naofumi  and the beast is at large, blocking a single slash from the beast has made Naofumi stowed away for a decent meters " Uaaakkhh...".

" UGH!! " Naofumi coughing out his blood as he kneeled down, He stare at his giant opponents even more the minions around gather up on it This is bad, my shield didn't seems to match its attack, with the swing delivered my body is also got stow away, if this thing keep at it, I've no choice other than to use that shield. Naofumi finally manage to stand on his feet, even take quite a bit struggle to do it.

" Come ! Rage shield ! " as soon as Naofumi called out for his Trump card, The shield changed into rage shield, as Naofumi uses his rage shield the beast slash at him for the second time, this time Naofumi manage to block it but with a great amount of power the beast has, Naofumi troubled at holding his ground. With all of his might he manage to hold of its attack, but the ground below him shatters as the beast put more power into it.

" UUGGHH.... " As the special effect of his shield, the flame is erupting from it and in a second the beast is blazed by the flame of curse " hooaaaaahhhh " Naofumi put all his might into the shield intend to burn it.

The beast suddenly push away Naofumi make him backed a few step. Damn it, seems not that worked...

" NAOFUMI ! " a voice recognized by Naofumi as Kirito called him out, suddenly a storm of arrows piercing through the crowd of undead followed by a dozen of stabs from someone's rapier to the beast ahead of Naofumi, he feels a bit lighted as it seems reinforcement had arrived.
