Ch. 4: Becoming Friends

*NOTE it is the end of the first year and after all the events in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child*

You wait in the Gryffindor common room impatiently. Rose had left because Scorpius wanted to talk to her for some reason.

Albus and Scorpius had returned to Hogwarts yesterday but you still hadn't had a chance to speak to them. You were always worried sick about them because Rose was worried sick. You were so close you always felt each other's emotions.

To be fair, you didn't really hang out with Albus and Scorpius but you did sit next to Scorpius in Transfiguration and you have to start somewhere.

Rose hangs out with the boys a lot but she still hangs out with you. When she hangs out with them you always go to your favorite tree and sit in the calming shade. No one ever goes to that tree and you've never told anyone about it.

Rose returned looking very flushed for some reason.

"What happened?" You ask her.

"Scorpius just asked me out." She replied.

It was so obvious Scorpius fancies Rose it came as a surprise he only asked her now.

"What did you say?" You ask eagerly.

"I said no." She replies.

Rose is trying to convince herself she doesn't like him but I see straight through that.

"Oh, by the way, Al and Scorpius want to meet us outside in ten minutes." She says.

"Why do I have to come?" You ask her. "I never even hang out with the boys, why should I start now?"

"Because then my best friend, best cousin, and admirer can all be best friends." She says as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.

"Fine. But just so you know I'm not going to be happy hanging out with them." You say.

"Yeah, yeah, let's just go!" Rose exclaims.

~Albus POV~

I don't even know why I invited Y/n. She probably still hates me from the beginning of the year, not to mention all the events that have been going on.

Scorpius and I are waiting outside by a random tree when we hear talking behind us. I turn around and see Rose and Y/n headed our way. Rose looks very happy while Y/n has a scowl plastered on her face.

"Al! Scorpius!" Rose exclaims.

She runs up to us and hugs us. Scorpius has a slight tinge of pink on his cheeks when she pulls away.

"Do you forgive us for worrying you now?" Scorpius asks.

"I'm not sure yet. I'll get back to you on that." She replies cheekily.

At that point no one is paying attention to Y/n and she seems to have disappeared.

"Where did Y/n go?" I ask.

Rose whips her head around and turns back to us thoroughly annoyed.

"I swear when I find her I'll kill her! I just wanted her to meet you two and she goes off somewhere else!" Rose exclaims. "Scorpius, your coming with me. We are going to find Y/n wether she likes it or not."

Scorpius blushes at the fact Rose has taken his hand in hers but Rose doesn't acknowledge that fact right now.

"What am I supposed to do?" I call after them.

"Wait there, we'll be back in a little bit!" She yells back.

"Great, now I'm stuck here all alone." I mutter to myself.

"No your not." A voice that sound strangely like Y/n's says.

At that moment something falls out of the tree and lands on top of me pushing my face into the dirt.

"Uuugh" I groan but my voice is muffled by the ground.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" A voice asks.

I look up from the dirt to see Y/n looking at me with her eyes full of concern and a hint of fear.

"Here let me help you up." She says extending her arm to pull me up.

I take her hand and it feels soft and warm in mine.

"Thanks." I reply back with sarcasm laced into my voice.

"I'm really really sorry. Are you sure you're okay?" She asks me.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I say.

"Oh, you have dirt on your face, let me get that for you." She says.

Y/n brushes some dirt from my cheek and I feel myself start blushing from her touch. It's at this moment I realize how close we are and start blushing even more. She seems to notice this to and steps away a little.

"What were you doing in the tree anyways?" I ask her.

"Well, to be honest I was dragged here by Rose, something about her best friend, cousin, and admirer all being friends. I wanted to prank her from the tree but she was out of my reach so I just stayed up there. Then they left and I lost my footing and fell on you." She replies.

"You're not still mad at me?" I ask her.

"How could I be mad at you from something almost a year ago?" She asks me smiling at me. I didn't realize how beautiful her smile was until now. "I'm not that petty Albus."

"Call me Al, I prefer it anyways." I say to her.

"Okay then, Al, do you want to go prank Rose and Scorpius?" She asks me exaggerating on the Al part.

"I would love to." I reply with a glint of mischievousness in my eyes.

"Come one then." She says sprinting off towards the castle. I'm not as fast as her so when I make to the top she grabs my hand and says jokingly, "Merlin, if I knew you were this slow I wouldn't have asked you to help me." After that she grabs me and runs with me towards the seventh floor.

Y/n makes a point that Rose and Scorpius see us and follow us. We hide next to an empty broom cupboard and wait for them to come running after us. When they do Y/n pushes them into the broom cupboard and locks it with her wand.

"Just so you know, this cupboard is magic and sound proof and can only be opened from the outside." She says.

"WHAT?!?" Rose exclaims.

"How do you know that?" I ask her.

"Your brother told me." She replies.

"How long are we going to keep them in there?" I ask her.

"Hmm... I don't know." She says before yelling at the cupboard. "MAYBE UNTIL I'M AN AUNT?"

"Y/n! Let us out right now!" Rose yells.

"No, I want to be an aunt and therefore you can't come out until I am one." She replies nonchalantly.

I stare at her with wide eyes hearing what she wants them to do.

"You do realize we're only eleven." I tell her.

"Shhh!" She exclaims and clamps her mouth on my hand.

I lick her hand so she will remove it but she just clamps down harder.

"I have a brother and a sister, you really think that's going to work on me?" She asks me with an eyebrow raised.

I sigh in defeat and she removes her hand from my mouth.

"Come on, let's go eat dinner. We'll come back for them later." She whispers to me.

We run off to the Great Hall leaving Rose and Scorpius in the cupboard.
