Why Don't We Pregnancy Series

27. Labor/ Delivery- Daniel

I am almost 9 months pregnant and baby Teddy could come anytime now. Daniel and I are so excited to meet him. We are also a little nervous too as it's our first baby and we are young so we don't really know what to expect but we hope everything will go well and according to plan. We don't have any birth plan. The plan is just for everything to go well and for baby Teddy to be safe and well. We have about everything ready for our baby boy and just can't wait to meet him anytime. Daniel and I have a lot of love and support from our friends and family. Daniel and I are in for the evening relaxing. We are sat on the couch together cuddling. "Babe, I think I'm gonna take a shower. I need one" I say. "Okay that's fine, sweetie. Do you need me to watch you?" Daniel replies. "No I think I'm fine. Thanks" I reply. "Okay, love but call me if you need me" he said kissing my forehead. I walk slowly into the bathroom and take a shower. It's the summer and I usually take more showers during the summer as I get hot and sweaty. More so with being pregnant. I get stripped off and get in the shower and rinse down. I don't wash my hair as it doesn't really need it. I put a shower cap on my head. Shortly I was done in the shower so I get dried. As I was getting dried I don't feel so good. I clench my stomach. It feels like I'm having contractions. "Daniel" I scream. "I'm coming, baby" he said. "I think I'm going into labor. When I got out of the shower I started to feel funny and I'm having contractions" I reply. "It's okay, honey. Let's get some clothes on you and I'll take you to the hospital" Daniel said. He gets me dressed and then takes me outside to he car and drives me to the hospital. My waters break literally just before we got in the car

Daniel and I arrive at the hospital soon. He parks up. He drove as fast of he could even though I was in pain but he wanted to get me there. "We're here, babe. Do you feel like you can walk? I can get you a wheelchair" Daniel said. "Yeah if you could, Dani" I reply. "I'll be just a moment" he said. He comes back with a wheelchair for me and lifts me into it before wheeling me into the hospital and to the maternity unit. "Y/ N Y/ L/ N, she's gone into labor" Daniel said to the receptionist. "We don't have any rooms available yet but we will soon if you just wait over there" she said. "Okay thank you" Daniel said. Soon I get called into a room. A midwife comes in and examines me. "So you are about 5cm dilated so halfway there?" she said. "Okay that's good. So when I'm fully dilated he will come. Won't he?" I say. "Yes" the midwife replies. Daniel sits next to me in the chair and holds my hand. I hope it doesn't take too long. I just can't wait to meet our boy" Daniel said. "I know me too, Dani. Me too" I reply. "I guess we'll just have to wait. No matter how long it takes. It'll be worth it in the end" he said. "It will, my love" I say kissing his hand. "I hope it's soon" he said. It's like 10:30pm so we could be here a long time but it will be worth it of course. Sometime has passed it's the early hours of the next morning. Daniel hasn't left my side since we got here. Only to get himself something to eat and drink. The midwife keeps on checking my cervix and I'm almost fully dilated now so our boy could come anytime now. Daniel is grasping hold of my hand. "Are you doing okay, babe?" Daniel asks. "Yes" I say as a big contraction comes on. "Errrrr I think he's coming. I can feel his head" I yell. "I'm getting a midwife, babe" he said. The midwife comes in and I get get to give birth. The doctor was on hand in case we needed him. The midwives encouraged me to push and Daniel held my hand throughout

After about nearly an hour of pushing our little baby boy Teddy came into the world. We could tell that he had a right set of lungs on him as he screamed when he was born. The doctors took him to check him but he was really healthy. Then they gave him to us to hold. I hold Teddy in my arms and Daniel lays on the bed next to us. "Baby, I can't believe he's here. He's so adorable. I'm in love with him already" Daniel said. "I know. The birth was super painful but at least we have our little boy boy now and he's so perfect" I say. "He certainly is. I've never felt so much joy in my life. Honey, you did so amazing. I'm so proud of you" Daniel said. "Thank you. Me too and he looks a lot like you too, Dani" I say. "Yes he does. He's so perfect and we both him" he said. "We do. Would you like a hold of him?" I reply. "Yes of course I would" he replies. I hand baby Teddy to Daniel to hold. "Oh my gosh. I've forgotten what it's like to hold a baby. Wow! It's such an incredible feeling" Daniel said. I smile. We spend sometime with our newborn son before I try breastfeeding him which went well. I was a bit reluctant to do it at first but it's the best for the baby. After that we have some more time with baby Teddy and we are so happy that he's here safe and well. We are so in love with him already
