Taehyung huffed, puffs of white floating past his lips as he struggled to find his keys that were buried deep in his pockets. He put a bag of food on the ground, keeping a tight hold on the other bag in his arms, rummaging through said pockets, exhausted and wanting nothing more than to just sit inside and eat his somewhat warm food.

The line at the restaurant took forever and the wait for the food to come out felt even longer. People kept skipping in front of him, telling him bogus stories about how they were in the bathroom. The staff even messed up his order, but he didn't care and left with what he was given. If it took this long just to get it, imagine how much longer it would take for them to fix it.

"Are you kidding me?" he snarled, patting the sides of his pants down. "I know I put them in this pocket."

His finger scraped the edge of the key, cutting it a bit, but not enough to draw blood. He hissed, grabbing the keys and yanking them out of his pocket. Unlocking the door, he kicked the door closed and threw the bags on the kitchen counter. He shivered, feeling the warmth seep into his skin and his lungs defrost.

He leaned against the counter, catching his breath with heavy pants, "Jungkook, I'm home!" he announced, cupping his hands over his mouth as he warmed them up, rubbing them together. "I brought dinner!"

When he didn't receive a response, he didn't think much of it. The bunny hybrid was probably still asleep, huddled under the thick blankets to shield himself from the cold since the heater was broken for the time being. He peeked his head through the entrance to the kitchen, seeing blankets thrown on the floor in a heap, pillows missing.

Confused, he furrowed his eyebrows and walked towards the bunny's room, feeling something off about the situation. As he got closer, he could hear small whimpers and cries coming from the room. He picked up the blanket in case Jungkook was hiding under it, but found it empty and dropped it on the floor.

That's when he realized the cries were coming from the closet. He could see Jungkook's small figure pushed against the wall with a pillow on his lap, face buried into it and two more surrounding him to cushion from the wall. His shoulders shook as he sobbed, too caught up to smell Taehyung's scent in his room.

Taehyung gasped, rushing to the closet, sitting on his knees, "Jungkook!" he whispered, pushing the bunny hybrid to cry into his shoulder, wrapping his arms around his small waist. "W-why are you crying?"

"I-I thought y-you le-left me.." the boy wailed, clutching Taehyung's shirt in his hands, pulling himself closer. Taehyung's heart broke as he tugged his closet, letting Jungkook rest on his lap, rocking him slightly.

"No, no, I won't leave you," he hushed him in a soothing manner, massaging the velvet bunny ears. He sighed, lightly rubbing his fingers over new sores, the ends slightly damp. For now, he decided to leave it be and do something about it later. "I would never leave you, bun."

Jungkook continued crying into his shoulder, kneading Taehyung's shirt and let out a quiet toothy purr as he relaxed. He sniffled, catching a bit of Taehyung's minty smell, "Th-that's what t-they told m-me t-the la-last time.."

The blonde's eyebrows furrowed, his head tilting a bit. He had an idea who Jungkook was talking about - his previous owners. Again, he decided not to bring it up and focused on comforting the crying hybrid. Jungkook hadn't told him about his past for a reason and he wasn't going to force him to tell him about it.
