"JUST WANT TO LAY ME DOWN-"
——————————-The front gate beeped and Ryan knew it was the others. He removed his feet from off the table and stood up to receive them.
A few minutes later they were walking through the door. "Hey gu-...." He trailed off at the sight of a shorter, humanized, Hulk. Ryan raised his brow, watching them as they passed. Banner patted Ryans hair and kept walking. "That's where you guys went? For Bruce?" Ryan asked, jabbing a thumb to him.
"No. First we went to Stark, who let us down, and then we went for Banner." Scott answered. Ryan frowned at the name Stark. "Wait. You went to the Starks?" Anger laced in his tone.
Natasha turned to him. "Yes. Now you know why Tristan didn't want you to go."
Ryan scoffed. "No. I still don't know." Natasha gave him a look before turning away from the angered man.
"Is this because of Skylar? What did you expect? Did you think-"
"I don't know Ryan! Why don't you ask her! Oh wait, you can't. She stayed over there so now I need you to focus because we got work to do." Natasha commanded. "Scott. Would you please explain to him what's going on." And with that she left the room.
Scott rubbed his hands together. "Okay. So,"
-Skylar went back down once her head was clear. She hugged her arms and sighed, taking the last step. She turned to see Tony busy in the kitchen washing dishes. She walked up to him. "Let me finish them." She said softly. Tony whipped to look at her. He shook his head. "No. I'm good."
Skylar pursed her lips and thrust out her hand, wanting to grab the plate in his hand. "Come on." Skylar insisted. Tony stared before sighing and handing her the plate. Skylar nodded and began to work. Tony leaned his hands back against the counter. His eyes landed on a picture on one of the corner shelves.
He grabbed it and studied it, seeing Peter Parker and himself. They were holding a certificate of Stark Industries while they held up bunny ears for each other. Skylar noticed his sudden silence and looked over her shoulder to see him observing the photograph. She placed a dish on the rack and stood next to him.
Skylar smiled at the image. "I remember that day. We were still in contact. He was....so happy." Tony's lips curved into a sad smile. "That day...when he walked in....he-"
"-was screaming like a little girl." Skylar finished, scrunching her nose. Tony chuckled at the memory. But the warm feeling in his heart quickly faded, turning into an aching pain. He exhaled deeply. "I feel like I didn't do enough."
