A soft melody rang from Isaac's phone, waking him from his slumber. 8:00AM. He felt as if he was missing something by sleeping in, his usual waking time was 6:30AM was followed by a short thirty minute yoga practice to start off his day. He made an exception this morning with the long day yesterday figuring he could use the extra rest, but it had been months since Isaac had stayed in bed later than 6:30AM. As a teenager, he had developed bad habits of sleeping in until noon or later but after having his first awakening in his twenties, he felt it was a waste of a day to just lie in bed. To change his habits, he implemented arising early with a yoga practice, and sometimes if he felt like it, added Pǔbiàn Wǔshù forms to the routine.
He yawned, lifted his covers and scooted over his king sized bed. He hung his legs off of the side for a moment and looked out his window. A gorgeous view of the morning shone through. He noticed that the sun was perfectly aligned with him, so he closed his eyes and imagined the sun connecting with his mind and body. Suddenly he felt vibrations building at the top of his skull. As he opened his eyes the sun seemed to shine brighter, and it energized Isaac as he kept himself aligned with it. He thought of last night and felt excited to start the day, Things can only get better from here, right?
Isaac lifted himself up and went to his dresser for a change of clothes. A quiet meow came from the middle of the bed. "Time to get up Adam." Isaac said to his cat. The cat stretched and adjusted himself, sat up for a moment, looked straight into Isaac's eye and then flopped right back down onto a pillow. "Lazy." Isaac crept back into bed and gave his cat a pet on his head. After a moment of sitting with his cat, he got up and put his glasses on and went about his morning routine in the bathroom. Before he started, he looked into the mirror for a moment as if something were supposed to be changed about him. "Still me," he said.
Isaac left the bathroom in his bedroom and went down the stairs and into the kitchen. As soon as he put food down in Isaac's bowl, tiny footprints could be heard jumping out of bed and sprinting down the stairs to the food bowl. Isaac had to laugh, "Clockwork," he said to himself as he put on a pot of coffee and boiled some water in the tea kettle. "Let's see here, what should we make this morning?" He rifled through his fridge and pantry grabbing eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, pancakes, along with some chilled fruits. As Isaac prepared breakfast, he filled up a cup of coffee for himself and poured in some sugar and cream. He drank in its deliciousness and thanked God for caffeine.
Footsteps could be heard from above walking from one of the bedrooms and down the stairs. Paul was the first one to rise. "What's up? Smells good in here."
"Go ahead and grab yourself a coffee or tea, breakfast will be ready in about 20 minutes." Isaac told Paul. "Sleep well?"
"Definitely did, thank you." Paul went over to the counter and filled a cup with coffee with cream and sugar. He took a sip from his cup and leaned up against the counter. "So what's the plans for today?
"Well I figured I'd make breakfast early and get everybody up and moving. If we sleep in we won't have much time for airsoft," said Isaac as he flipped over some pancakes.
"Yeah I hear that. Honestly I can't sleep in much later than 8:00 or 9:00 on the weekends these days anyways. My body is just programmed to get up and get going then."
"I know what you mean. Every morning I teach now is at 8:30AM, still not that early but it takes me a while to get there so I'm up at a relatively early hour every day. And before that I'm usually up doing some yoga and working out."
Two more footsteps were heard in the house, this time walking up the basement stairs. Warren walked in the kitchen yawning all the way down the hall. "Sup fellas? Damn, it smells good in here. I love waking up to breakfast. What do we have here?"
