A hot afternoon sun shone down brightly on the seven as they trudged wearily through the field back to Isaac's house. One by one they cleansed with a shower and a change of clothes, and joined each other back in the living room awaiting the arrival of Isaac's family. The seven sat around the black coffee table on a large gray sectional couch with their eyes aimed above the fireplace at the mounted flat screen television. Isaac flipped the channels over to sports to entertain his guests when he noticed out the corner of his eye in the window the first car, a maroon Hyundai, pulling up his long street and onto his driveway, parking next to his friends cars in the grass.
"I'll be right back fellas, Jess and Brandon are here."
"Awe, Jess. I haven't seen her in years." said Sean.
Paul sat up and reminisced, "Do you remember when we all did drama club with her back in grade school? The Music Man was so much fun. I hope someone starts singing that tonight."
"He's a what? He's a what? He's a music man!" Cameron sang the chorus in the background and somehow remembered every word to the tune despite the play taking place nearly twenty years ago.
Sean shook his head in approval, "He's ready."
Isaac stepped forward to the door and opened it. "What's going on family? Good to see you," he hugged his sister and then his brother in law.
"Hey brother!" Jess said with a smile, she wore a dark blue button down t-shirt and jeans. Her short blonde hair rested around the cut of her neck that lit up her golden necklace. "I can't believe it's all done! The house looks amazing!" Jessica Gray Luckett was Isaac's closest sibling, so close in fact they shared the same birthday, March 12th, but were born exactly one year apart.
The two looked similar in many ways. They each had a similar smooth face shape though she wore thick black framed glasses over her gray eyes. She, like her brother, also kept in great shape and was a fairly good athlete in her youth playing all the typical sports, but she eventually gave those up to work with animals.
"Thank you, Sis. You know you're more than welcome to come over anytime. Why don't you stop by my house next week when you're riding Paisley?"
"That's a great idea. We can have lunch again but this time in your nice house!" Jess laughed as she surveyed the land. "I would board Paisley here if you had a few horses to keep him company. Then I could see you almost everyday! Then we could do more yoga at the barn with Lacey and do it here instead of their place."
"Yes, I would love that! I haven't seen her in months." Lacey Thomas was the daughter of the Ronald Thomas, the man who sold Isaac this land. For a time, Lacey frequently attended the yoga class taught by Isaac at the stables.
Isaac stepped over to his brother in law, "How are you doing, sir? How's life?"
His brother in law Brandon Luckett smiled under his black-brown bushy beard. His hairline had receded back a little bit more than the last time Isaac had seen him. He bore a tight plain white shirt that broadened his chest with black cargo pants, keeping his clothes casual like his personality. "Life is good, thanks for asking. Finally got our flooding problem under control at our house, that was a pain in the ass. Other than that though it's been great. Work's good, animals are good. Can't complain."
Isaac welcomed the two into his home, and was followed by a warm welcome from his friends. The two were flattered with the greeting, grabbed chairs from the corner and took a seat with the others. As they sat down Isaac noticed another car travelling up his driveway. A sleek silver Audi slowly approached the driveway. Isaac looked intently but wasn't exactly sure who the car belonged, then behind him he heard a phone ring. Cameron looked down at his phone and answered the question of whose car it was, "Holly's here."
