Tenma got into his head. The mad scientist didn't use and microchips, he didn't recode Astro's brain or mess with him in any way. Astro chose to start a rebellion against humans, by himself. That was the hardest thing for you to take in.

Sweet, kind, loving Astro Boy. He wanted to see the downfall of humanity? You often had sleepless nights thinking about it.

Since you were one of Astro's closest friends before he began turning against humanity, O'shay had asked you to work on the case of getting Astro back and helping him become someone we could all trust again.

Most of the world had turned on Astro. You guessed they all had a deep fear of the robot boy and were just waiting for him to turn bad. As you could imagine, O'shay was desperate. But you couldn't help him, no matter how much you wanted to. Your life would become a living hell if people knew you were still on Astro's side. You would be hurt, a lot.

You laid in your room, skipping through shows on the TV. You weren't looking for any particular channel though, you were mindlessly searching for nothing. your eyesight had become fuzzy with steamy tears as memories of good times you had with Astro replayed themselves on repeat like a faulty record player. This happened frequently.

"Today's weather is cloudy and rainy, lot's of fog should-" Next channel.

"Oh frank! You're such a tease. Good thing we are-" Next channel.

"Kids are calling it 'Angel Dust' and it's not what you think-" Next channel.

"Detective Tawashi has done it again! He has found the former robot hero Astro and-" Next channel.

"Astro?" Before the next TV program could load, you went back a channel. It was him. You leaned further towards the TV and you almost fell off the couch while doing so. Your words had been stolen by what was shown on the screen in front of you.

He was injured. greatly. The police force and Delta had strange weapons that were aimed at the smaller robot. They were firing in directions they couldn't even see in. The heavy rain mixed with the burning of lasers through the air had created a thick layer of fog around Astro and the opposing side.

They waited for a moment until the wind blew away the fog. When that finally happened, they all pointed their weapons around, looking for the robot boy. But- he was nowhere.

Your cheeks began to burn at the feeling of hot salty tears running down your already puffy face. You shakily turned off the TV and rolled on the couch, crying and hugging a small pillow.

"Huff... Huff..."  Astro ran down the streets of Metro City, desperately trying to get away from the Anti-Robot squad who were chasing after him. "Hah... Ah..." The brown-eyed android used his rockets to boost himself, but his systems were so rundown that he couldn't stay in the air for very long. Where was he going? Did he know? Of course he did, but he knew he shouldn't.

The harshly damaged boy placed his hand over his shoulder and held it in place in fear that the wound on it would cause him to lose an arm. He shivered into agony as his running became slower and slower. He was almost there, he just had to push forward. He was so close.

The sound of pattering rain and your sobbing was overpowered by a loud knocking on your door. You quickly sat up and rubbed your red eyes and placed your cold hands on them, hopefully cooling them down before tending to whoever was at the door.

You glumly waddled to the door and opened it. You were faced with none other than Astro. His sudden appearance made you straighten your posture and step back out of alarm. His head hung low and his mangled body was soaked to the brim with water. A minute of breathlessness passed as you looked at the robot you once considered a lover in dismay.

The sudden tapping of metal on the ground brought Astro out of his pitiful stance. Fright filled his eyes as he could hear Delta giving orders to his men to 'Search the area!'

You understood the situation quickly after seeing the alarm in his facial expression. You took his uninjured arm and pulled him into your home. He let out a shocked yelp as you pulled him in and shut the door behind yourself. His footsteps left mud on the ground, but it didn't much faze you.

He opened his mouth to speak, but you quickly walked off before he could get a word out.

Astro watched you leave the room and frowned. This was a bad idea, he shouldn't have come to seek refuge here. It was hurting the both of you by doing so.

Not even a minute passed and you came back with a black towel. Astro was relieved you hadn't gone to call the police on him, but there was still a lot of tension between you two nonetheless.

You placed the towel over Astro's head and began drying him. You dried up his head, neck, arms, chest and so on. You got down to below his waist and that's when he stopped you.

"Let me do that, please, I shouldn't expect you to-"

"I've got it. Don't worry."

Once he was all dry, you looked him up and down again. You didn't need to wear glasses to know that Astro's arm was barely connected to his body. You had some bandages in your room, hopefully, that would help keep him in one piece. You were just about to take him to your room when he tried to step forward, but only dropped to the floor, you followed him down and let him lean his upper body on you for support. The lean for support became somewhat of a hug.

"You shouldn't be here..."

"I had nowhere else to go."

"Thanks... I feel much better now that you- Ah." After wrapping Astro up, you had fallen into his arms with a tight hug that he barely returned.

"Doctor O'shay is looking for you." You whispered.

"I know."

"And Atlas..."

"I know."

"Everyone is looking for you... Even the police and most of the Anti-Robot raiders."

"... I know."

You slowly released the hug. "I should report you." You looked down to his hand that was reaching for yours.

"Are you going to...?" He followed your train of sight and squeezed your hand. You squeezed it back.

"No." You shamefully admitted.

Astro stood up and got off your bed. "I should leave, I don't want you caught up in my mess." But your intertwined hands were stopping him from leaving. He turned back to you.

"Astro... I was so scared... You're here now, but I saw Delta try to attack you so many times... I keep thinking... Thinking that I always lose you. I still can't bare the thought of living in a world without you. I know this is wrong... You're a robot who hates humans and I'm supposed to be a human who hates robots. But I can't help but stay by your side just a bit longer." After hearing your words and seeing you begin to cry, Astro moved back onto the bed and embraced you gently like you were going to break you if he hugged too hard.

"Tonight..." He began pulling you down onto the soft bed. "Just for tonight..." He patted down your hair as he hugged you into his chest. "We can forget... What we are."
