After Alec and Abby experienced The Darkness, they knew this would cause a problem. Abby was still scared from her experience. Alec asked "The Darkness, it made you afraid...What did you see?". Abby sighed "I saw something that I thought I've forgotten" she started. She repositioned her footing "When I was a little girl I would wake up crying almost every night...". She looked down "...I was scared that this faceless monster was going to tear me away from my mother". She sighed "When she died the nightmares stopped, but when I was little it was..." She broke from her sentence, she gave an almost laugh "...very real...".
She looked at Alec, and he gave her a sympathetic look. "Alec I'm okay, I am more worried about you and about this Darkness". Alec spoke his voice was deep and kind "Abby, this Darkness causes death and decay, I would prefer if you stayed away from it". Abby sighed "Alec, I am here to cure you, and this Darkness might be the answer". Abby walked over to the boat "Can you take me tomorrow, to the source?". Alec sighed "Fine, but you have to listen to me". Abby nodded "Thanks Alec, I will be back tomorrow". She started her boat, and the engine roared, and then she saw Alec walk away. She drove away afterwards.
Once Abby arrived at her place, there was a note in the kitchen from Liz. "Sorry Abby I've got a late shift at my dad's". Abigail looked in the fridge and saw a sandwich, and she took it. She put the sandwich on a plate and walked into her bedroom. She grabbed her bag which had a small box inside. It held a necklace, which had a locker and a picture of her mother. The box was old, and there was a big of fabric on the bottom of the box. When she caressed the necklace the fabric shifted and underneath it revealed a picture. She wondered how she had never noticed this before, but she hardly knew anything about her family. This box was everything about her bloodline, and about being an Arcane.
She pulled out the folded picture and saw a picture of her mother, and two men standing next to her. She saw at the bottom of photo there was a signature. It was signed with one word "Arcanes". Her eyes widened. She knew that she had a mother, but she thought that her father was out of the picture. There was also this other man, she assumed he was family. It was most likely her uncle. Abigail sighed "I have family". Her tears streamed down her face and landed on the picture. She put the picture in her pocket, and put the necklace around her neck. "Mom, why didn't you tell me this?" She spoke out loud to herself.
Abby walked to her bedroom, and put on her night clothes. She put her phone on charge and looked out of the window and saw the swamp around her. She misses Alec, and she was so desperate to help him, and cure him. However, her heart was slowly falling in love with him, and she was loving him now that he was this "Swamp Thing". She never thought the man of her dreams would turn out to be a monster.
