Summary: Virgil is awake and hungry, so he goes downstairs to grab a snack and finds quite the unexpected sight.

Virgil had switched back and forth between trying to sleep and scrolling through Tumblr for hours on end every night for the past week. It was as if he couldn't get comfortable, physically or mentally. His mattress felt lumpy, but it was probably his restlessness convincing him of that. He couldn't shut his brain off.
His thoughts were all random, but they all had a similar theme: Logan. Virgil couldn't help but recall the way he talked so thoughtfully and passionately, the small smirk that appeared when someone made fun of Roman, how badly he wanted to know what his lips felt like...
He shook the last thought from his mind. No one needed to be thinking such things at 2 am, especially Virgil. His anxiety-induced insomnia was bad enough; he didn't think he'd slept a full night since Thomas was about ten years old. The anxiety he felt had been especially heightened after these feelings for Logan began. He couldn't bring himself to understand why he had developed a crush on the logical side. If anything, it was stressful to have his mind cluttered with even more thoughts that what was already there.
Virgil sighed heavily and lifted himself from his warm, soft bed. Once the thoughts of his crush had dissipated slightly, he realized that he was ravenously hungry. Oftentimes, he was too anxious to eat a full dinner. His stomach couldn't handle it. However, now his stomach could handle just about anything within a ten-mile radius. Exiting his bedroom, he made his way down the stairs. About halfway down, he could see into the living room, and he noticed the TV was on. Roman must not have shut it off after watching Mulan three times in a row. He figured that he would be nice and turn it off in order to not waste electricity. He started to reach for the remote when--
"Hello, Virgil."
The anxious side practically jumped out of his skin.
"H-hi, Logan," Virgil stuttered, trying his best to calm his heart rate.
"What brings you here at such a late hour?" Logan asked.
"I could ask you the same," Virgil replied with a head tilt. "I'm always awake this late. Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen you awake past 11."
Logan sighed and shrugged. The TV lit him up in a way that emphasized the darkness of Logan's eye bags. He appeared to be beyond exhausted.
"My head seems to be filled with unwelcome thoughts," Logan answered after a moment of thinking. "Well, they are not unwelcome necessarily, but they are thoughts that I would prefer to not have around bedtime. They have prevented me from sleeping for the past several nights, so I have been coming downstairs to make myself useful." He pointed to the TV.
"By watching a snowy owl documentary at 2:25 am?" asked Virgil, giggling slightly.
"In my defense," said Logan, "it is extremely fascinating. I have learned a lot."
Virgil giggled again and could swear that the usually stoic, serious Logan also had a smile on his face. Virgil was happy it was dark; otherwise, Logan would see the blush that had spread across his cheeks. His stomach growled, and he remembered why he had come downstairs in the first place.
"Hey, I was going to make myself a flatbread sandwich," said Virgil. "You want one?"
"Sure. That sounds quite appetizing." Logan smiled again.
Virgil's blush deepened, and he couldn't manage to keep Logan's face off his mind while preparing the two sandwiches. No one would ever believe him if he told them he saw Logan smile.
He handed Logan's sandwich to him and sat down beside him on the sofa.
"Sorry there's no cheese on yours," said Virgil, shyly. "We're out of provolone, and I know you hate swiss."
Logan did not seem to mind the lack of cheese, as he took a large bite out of his food.
"You are correct," he responded once he had finished chewing. "I would prefer my sandwich not tasting of feet."
Virgil snorted. "Swiss cheese does not taste like feet!"
"I have to disagree."
The two sides continued discussing different types of cheeses, then moving on to whether or not subs have too much bread and later talking about why they were still awake.
"What sort have thoughts have been keeping you awake?" Virgil asked. Logan paused before answering, as if he was thinking carefully about wording what he wanted to say.
"I have been having thoughts about one singular person. Thinking of them makes me feel tingly, but not in a bad way. It's almost as if being around that person makes my heart flutter. I asked Patton about these sensations, but he was of no help. He is rather excitable when it comes to feelings such as these, apparently. I went to Roman for a second opinion, and his reaction was the same. I do not understand what is so exciting about it. These thoughts keep me awake, which is not exactly fun. However, at the same time, I do not mind these feelings."
Virgil's heart sank. Logan had a crush on someone. That much was obvious. What if it wasn't him? Virgil didn't want to know the answer, and yet he had to find out.
"Who is this person, if you don't mind me asking?" Virgil asked, slowly. His eyes widened when he noticed that Logan was blushing.
"My...my thoughts are centered around you, Virgil."
Virgil was in shock. There was no way, but there was. Logan admitted it. Logan had a crush on Virgil. Virgil was fairly certain he had stopped breathing. Logan studied his expression carefully, clearly not knowing what to make of his lack of response. Logan spoke up again.
"It is all right if you do not feel the same about me. It's just that you occupy my mind at every moment. Patton and Roman both claimed that I am in love with you, and I cannot disagree. It is talks like these that make my feelings for you grow stronger. I am unsure of what I would do without your companionship. Though, again, it is perfectly understandable if your feelings are not the same."
"No! No, they are!" Virgil exclaimed, finding his voice. "They are the same. I can't sleep most nights because I'm thinking about you. You are just so smart, and I love listening to you talk about stars and documentaries about snowy owls. I can't help but get flustered around you. Your smile is just so rare, but I love it, and...I'm rambling I'm sorry."
"There is no need to apologize, Virgil." Logan reached out his hand and placed it on top of Virgil's. Virgil flipped his hand over and laced his fingers with Logan's. Looking up at Logan's face, Virgil realized that Logan's smile was more prominent this time, and it was a beautiful sight. Logan lifted Virgil's hand to his mouth and kissed it gently, sending a shiver through Virgil's body. He couldn't help but notice that he was smiling widely as well.
"I love you," Virgil whispered, not being able to contain himself. Logan leaned in and pecked Virgil on the cheek.
"I love you too." Logan pecked Virgil's cheek once more, causing Virgil to hide his face in his hands.
"Would you like to sleep in my room tonight...?" Logan asked shyly.
Virgil removed his hands from his face and caught Logan's lips with his.
"I would love to."
