"Goodbye Skylar! I'm going to miss you so much!" Lindsey says as I give her a tight hug."I'm going to miss you too! Thank you for being my only friend for the passed two years. It's true. After I had to leave my lifelong best friend Ashton Irwin, Lindsay has been my only friend. You see I've gone through a lot the passed 18 years of my life, but luckily I had Ashton. I met him when I was 3 in daycare, he was 5 and we have been best friends since. When I was 12 I was taken away from my home because my parents weren't taking care of me. Instead of going into a foster home, Ashton's mom agreed to let me live with them. I became a "bad girl" type of person. I started doing bad in school and excluding myself from activities. When I was 14 I was diagnosed with severe anxiety and major trust issues. It was also uncovered that the reason I acted out was because of all the neglect I received when I was a child. Although, I was never rude or disrespectful to the Irwin's. They made me feel loved. Ashton has been there for me my entire life. Including bullies, anxiety, he helped me get my grades up, was my only friend all my life, and he has even talked to me everyday since my retreat I went on two years ago. It was suggested by my psychologist that I go on a two year retreat to help me manage my thoughts. This retreat showed me that I'm not a bad person. I just build up walls. When I first got here and met Lindsey I was very quiet and rude towards her. However she never gave up and eventually she got to know me for the kind and loving girl I am and now we are close friends. However, everything good must come to an end and it is time for me to return home. Well, not exactly. Since I went on the trip, Ashton has moved to America with a group of his friends. He said he is pursuing his dream of playing drums and I couldn't be happier for him. We talk everyday and it has been the highlight of my days here. We talked about his band and how my days have been going. I explained that I still get really bad anxiety attacks just not ten times everyday anymore. I still build my walls and I still have a tough shell to crack to get to my happy side. He says he's happy I'm doing well and that he is excited to see me. I finish saying goodbye to Lindsey and grab my suitcase before walking out the door of our apartment and into the cab waiting to take me to the airport. The ride was quick and before I knew it I was on the plane to America. I was both terrified and excited. Excited to see Ashton again but terrified because I haven't been to America in 6 years when I was 12 and Ashton was 14. I decided to stop overthinking things and close my eyes for the rest of the long plane ride.
Ashton's POV
I can't wait to see Sky! I haven't seen her in person in what feels like 20 years and I never knew it was possible to miss someone so much. When I arrive at the airport I ask what terminal her plane would be in and I walked to the gate anxiously waiting to see my best friend again. When I see the plane land and pull up to the terminal I can't help but jump a little with excitement. I probably look like an idiot but I don't care. I watch intently as people walk off the plane and into the airport. I study every person until a familiar blonde appears in a red dress with black converse and a small black suitcase. My smile widens as she makes eye contact with me and begins to sprint. I follow her lead as she jumps into my arms. I hug her tightly. We stay like this for five minutes before pulling apart both with tears in our eyes.
"Well Well well if it isn't Skylar King."
"Well Well Well if it isn't Ashton Irwin." She mocks placing her hands mon her hips before giving me another quick hug. I kiss the top of her head.
"I missed you so much Lar." I whisper into her hair.
"I missed you Ton" they were nicknames we came up with when we were 10. Everyone called us Ash and Sky so we wanted to be unique and use the last syllable instead. We were creative children. I grab her suitcase and extend my hand out to her which she gladly excepts and we walk out of the airport and into my car. The entire drive to my apartment building was spent with us talking and laughing. I missed this girl so damn much. We arrived in the apartment building and I grabbed her suitcase. We decided that since she is new to the states she can have the apartment The is directly next to mine. There is also a door in each of our rooms that we can open to join our two rooms together. I explained to her that my band mates are also our neighbors. Calum is directly across from my room and Luke is next to Calum and across from Skylar. Michael is in the room in the other side of mine and we also all have keys to each other's apartments. I could tell that Skylar was a little nervous to meet the band but I know she will like them. We made our way up to her apartment and put her suitcase in her room. I showed her the door that joins our apartments together and we opened it and stepped inside to see Michael, Calum and Luke sitting on my couch eating my chips.
