The Letter

Hello, Atlas,

I know I wasn't supposed to find that letter you wrote to me- otherwise, you wouldn't have hidden it so well. Heh. I found it while cleaning, though, and... I can't bring myself to not respond to it, so here we are.

I'll be honest, I never thought that someone- something?- like you could feel. You always seemed so human so real that it seemed like you did, but... you aren't supposed to have emotions. You aren't supposed to feel the way we do. Were you programmed to be sentient and feel emotions? Was it an accident? Either way, it always felt like you... felt, but I knew that that was ridiculous. Reading your letter was strange because you having feelings made sense, even though it's impossible.

I want you to know that I feel the same- how could I not? You're ideal in every way. You're brilliant and caring and you listen when I want to passionately rant for hours on end and you show me new, weird, and cool things almost daily. You're there for me on my dumb little adventures. You talk to me when I'm too scared to speak to anyone else. I never thought I'd be able to hold up an enjoyable conversation with someone who could literally read my mind.

Guess you're just full of surprises, huh? It's kind of nice, how can surprise me while staying familiar.

I want to stay with you until the stars burn out, but with you at my side, we can keep the stars aglow for eternity.

Sincerely, Spencer.

(P.S. I'm glad you like the name. It's fitting in many ways, but perhaps most of all because you are My Star.)
