Spencer was slowly but surely getting used to his new, crazy powers. They were strong and completely foreign to him, making figuring them out and learning how to use them incredibly difficult for him. He had never had so much power before, nor had he ever known of anyone with similar powers obtained in under similar circumstances. He adored the newness, even if it was strange, but damn was it difficult to cope with. Spencer was... a twink. He weighed little more than a hundred pounds- very little of much was muscle mass- making it completely strange for him to suddenly obtain inhuman strength. Not understanding how to handle his newfound strength, among other things, made it incredibly difficult for him to adapt to the changes. It was arduous trying to control his powers and use them in the ways he wanted them, which is why Atlas ended up suggesting Spencer's sister's help with learning.
At first, Spencer had no clue how Christine- his equally small and sweet but far more bubbly and un-powered sister- could help him with gaining control over his own powers. Once they began working together, though, it became clearer to him.
Of course, Christine didn't know why she was helping Spencer with things or what his goal was since Spencer couldn't tell her that he was planning on, well, becoming a superhero for obvious reasons. As far as she knew, it was just nice sibling bonding- which it was. For Spencer, though, it was also a way for him to learn things that he would be able to use while crime-fighting and would help him with controlling his powers, as stupid as it seemed. It was a win-win situation.
Over several weeks, Christine taught Spencer basics of ballet that helped him improve his balance and control. Dancing was all about energy. Taking in, building, and exploding out energy in several different forms to get the desired moves for whatever dance it was you were doing. As it turned out, fighting, running and jumping from rooftops, and swinging around town was about all of the same things as dancing was. As he became better and better at doing countless spins without getting dizzy, he became better and better at keeping his eyes on his targets while moving and swinging from rooftops without making himself sick. As his balance improved, so did his ability to soar without crashing. As his ability to remember dance moves developed, so did his ability to remember longer fighting techniques. As Spencer's dancing advanced, so did his fighting and, within months, he found that he was able to control his powers far better and utilize them in very specific and interesting ways. With the help of Christine, Spencer became what he knew would be a superhero unlike any other before him and he had never been happier.
While Spencer learned dance to improve his skills and control over his powers, Beilah did similar things with her brother to enhance her own powers.
Jake had been more than a little surprised when his small, sports-hating, muscle mass-lacking, iron-deficient sister took an interest in Jake's passions for sports and physical activity. Nonetheless, he was thrilled to spend the time with her and sharing those things with her helped to take his mind off of their parents' recent disappearances. He had a feeling that may have been why Beilah decided to begin taking on the different interests that Jake had. Beilah didn't seem incredibly... interested in any of them on an emotional level or even passively, but she put a lot into most of the ones she tried and clearly did care about doing well in them, so Jake didn't see anything too strange about it.
Despite Beilah's fairly obvious lack of muscle mass and strength in general, she tried her hand at weight lifting, at the suggestion of her SQUIP. Her newfound strength from him did little to make the experience any less nerve-wracking, so she did it very infrequently, avoiding it at all costs despite what he said about how much it would help her. Squip didn't worry about it too much- he many things, but a worrier was not one of them. Besides, as far as he was concerned, him enhancing her strength wasn't the most important part of her new "powers". They could be far more powerful and successful relying on the mechanical aspects of everything- which Squip himself was incredibly proficient at and understood on a personal level far better than he did strength or other such things, considering he was, essentially, little more than an AI.
No matter, though. Squip was certain that Beilah would eventually find something she took interest in that would help her become an amazingly powerful hero- or villain, Squip couldn't care less what she ended up deciding upon- and he was right.
Archery was just one of the many things that Jake attempted to introduce Beilah to and it was one of the few that she seemed to actually take an interest in. As she drew back the string of the bow and sent the arrows flying, she strengthened her aim and depth perception. It started out incredibly rough considering archery was quite the difficult thing to get used to, especially after never having even tried it in the past, but, after several weeks of practice and plenty of help from her older brother, she became quite good at it. Squip was impressed- proud ever- that she had made such an improvement and felt even more confident in his abilities to train her and win the stupid bet he had set with his brothers. As unimpressed as Squip was with her after a few days knowing her, she was quickly turning around.
He grinned as beilah hit the bulls-eye perfectly. Yes, they would be able to perfectly take down anyone who dared to go against them, regardless of who they were. They still had a lot of work to do, but Squip was certain that, very very soon, they would be stunning people all across the stupid little town they lived in.
