One Chance

Melanie's POV

The next day as I expected everyone would be tired and hungover in class .

I wasn't that much considering I didn't have much to drink anyway .

At lunch however I saw Max sitting somewhat lonely on a bench alone .

"You okay there Max?"
I asked .

"Yeah I just don't get why Mike won't accept me been with there group ?"

I sat down next to Max considering I instantly knew why Mike was been like that .

"It's because of things what happened last year"

"What happened ?"

"You wouldn't believe me if i Told you the whole story so I'm just going to shorten it . There was a girl called El who Mike cared about a lot"

"Where is she ?"

"I was just getting to that . She gave up her life to save everybody . She's either missing or dead . Mike feels like another person going into there group would be replacing her"

"Oh"

"I'm sure he will warm up to you eventually. I don't know about Will because he's ya know Will but I'm sure Dustin and Lucas will be more than happy to welcome you"

"Yeah that sounds about right"

I sat down In my last lesson which was Biology  .

Well if this wasn't awkward then I don't know what else could be .

However I thought Billy would just talk to me like usual or flirt or something but he said nothing and nothing was something I wasn't a fan of in this situation.

"Billy ?"

Billy ignored me causing me to roll my eyes .

"Really Billy ? Silence ? Did it really bother you that much ? I'm sure there's another girl just around the corner which you would happily hook up with"

"There isn't believe it or not"

"So he speaks and I don't believe it"

"Why don't you believe it ?"
He asked.

I raised my eyebrows and gave him a look causing him to continue.

"One chance and if I fuck it up you never have to even acknowledge me again"

"One that's it"

Billy grinned before saying

"Great I'll pick you up after class"
