When disaster strikes

"Suicide isn't cowardly. I'll tell you what is cowardly; treating people so badly that they want to end their live."
~Ashley Purdy

When Grace was called out of class to the Dean's office she was confused. She hasn't recently done anything to warrant it. She hasn't snuck out recently, she hasn't beat anyone up, nor had she graffitied anything either. She stopped walking at that thought. Maybe they had finally found out that she had been with the boys when they all snuck into Jonny Knobs room and drew penises on his forehead while he was sleeping.

The door opening snapped her out of her thoughts. The Dean himself had opened the door to welcome her. She sighed knowing that she was in big time trouble.

"Mr. Stone let's have a little chat." He said solemnly. She stepped into his office to be met by surprise. Both her and Neil's parents were there. Neil's mom was crying and Neil's dad was patting her back with clenched teeth. Her parents were sitting on the other side of them. Her step-mom on the verge of tears and her father mad but defeated looking. She looked between them before they turned to look at her themselves.

"Take a seat Mr. Stone." She took the chair closest to the Dean's desk, seeing as it was the only one open. The Dean sat in front of her.

"What is this all about?" She was scared they hadn't done anything like even when Neil died. Then everything hit her.

Someone said something.

Anger had started to pulse in her but she had to calm down; nobody would say anything, so why was she worrying. They had agreed to not give them a scape goat, maybe this was about some of the things she had taken from Neil that they had just found.

"We know who encouraged Neil to kill himself." In her mind the earth shook. In her mind she was stabbing the Dean for even uttering those words and she was hurting Mr. Perry. But in her mind Neil was still alive.

"What?" She almost spat the words disgusted and angry. "Nobody here encouraged Neil to kill himself! We were all his friends, his support!"

"LIAR! YOU LYING GIRL! MY BABY KILLED HIMSELF BECAUSE YOU KEPT IT FROM US!" Mrs. Perry exclaimed. She started sobbing loudly as Grace's step-mother reached out to comfort her. Mrs. Perry moved to miss Grace's step-mother.

Grace watched this confused and angry. As Mr. Perry comforted his wife, her glared at Grace.

"Mr. Stone we've had a student come forward with new information to enlighten the death of Neil Perry." The Dean was talking over the crying mother but when she heard death and Neil her sobs became noisy again. Mr. Perry continued to try and calm her until her sobs became quite tears. The Dean cleared his throat as to draw the attention to him again. He had a folder on his desk and slid a copy of a document with a signature at the bottom on it.

"The story is as recounted-
Mr. Keeting pressured Mr. Perry to pursue acting. When Mr. Perry told Mr. Keeting he wasn't allowed to act anymore, per request of his father, Mr. Keeting got angry and encouraged acting still. After the play, Mr. Keeting told Mr. Perry that he should kill himself if his father takes him away from him. Then Mr. Perry did kill himself. The people in the Dead Poets Society were well aware of these facts and did nothing to stop the happenings. Those parties are as follows. Mr. Todd Anderson, Mr. Knox Overstreet, Mr. Charles Dalton, Mr. Gerald Pitts, Mr. Steven Meeks, Mr. Thomas Stone, and Mr. Richard Cameron.

     (Mr. Thomas Stone)

She looked at the page and noticed that there were 6 signatures. She looked up at the pen that was offered to her. Then to her parents. Then to the Perry's.

"Just sign the damn thing boy, let's end this for everyone." Her father said. She was mad. Nothing that they had read off was true. She was about to take the sheet and rip it up but something stopped her. She looked at it again and saw Todd's name. They must have put him through hell. She again looked at Mrs. Perry. This would give her closure no matter how false it is. Mr. Keeting would suffer from this though. She looked at the document and then looked at the pen. She lifted her hand as Mrs. Perry let out a chocked out sob.
