A/N: Please comment as you read. It'll mean the world to me.
Even though I’d been lying when I said I was tired, I fell asleep for the rest of the trip. I woke up a few hours later, looking up to see Harry stare at me. Apparently, the gravitational pull of his body had made me sleep on his shoulder instead of the pillow to the other side.
Harry smiled. “You know… you drool a bit when you sleep.”
Jerking away, I widened my eyes, horrified. “What?”
“It’s no biggie.” He laughed. “Some may even call it cute.”
I huffed and turned my attention to the small screen on the back of the seat in front of me. The airline had a default screensaver that explained how far we were. From what I could see, we were just above Italy now.
A ding-dong tune resounded throughout the plane, and the Pilot’s voice followed.
“Ladies and Gentlemen. It’s the Captain speaking. In a few moments, we’re going to land in Milan. Please fasten your seatbelts. Air Europe hope you’ve enjoyed your flight.”
My screen showed a seatbelt sign, and I hurried to oblige. I reached for my handbag, taking out a packet of gum. This part of the trip was always the worst. Grabbing a piece, I started to chew almost manically.
“What are you doing?” Harry asked.
“I’m chewing to avoid airplane ears,” I said. “I don’t like those blocked ears, and chewing gum helps tremendously.” I held out the packet. “Do you want one?”
He shrugged and took out a piece. He began to chew right as the plane started to descend.
“You’re right,” he said. “It really does help.”
I would have answered him, but I was concentrating on chewing. A few times, I could feel my ears start to pop, but I managed to chew just in time to make it go away. I was happy when we landed safely and with my ears intact. Once, I’d walked around with blocked ears for over a week before I went away.
Everybody clapped at the landing, and the flight attendants led us out safely. I was one of the first people out of the plane, and immediately, I went to find my baggage. I was absolutely starving. Since I’d been sleeping for most of the trip, I hadn’t had a chance to get something to eat. Then again, maybe that was a good thing—airplane food had a tendency to make me gassy.
I met up with the rest of our group. Steven led us outside to the parking lot, and the heat took me by surprise. Italy was hot.
Luckily, the bus had air-condition. As we drove to our hotel, I spent my time taking in my surroundings. Outside the windows, I could see examples of the beautiful architecture, and I was excited to get to my camera. This whole charade had been going on for a week, and I hadn’t gotten one good picture. This was my chance to actually get something good out of this mess.
Maybe things were finally starting to look up for me.
I looked at my companions. Zayn and Harry was talking about tour memories. They wouldn’t be as excited as me since they already been here before. Nevertheless, both of them seemed happy to be off the plane.
Steven was talking to the chauffeur, and I resumed my gawking. It was absolutely stunning.
Once we drove up to the hotel, I was surprised to see that it was in one of the older buildings. It was decorated with statues on the walls, and the windows had painted glass.
“Is this where we’ll live?” I asked as we walked into the lobby. The interior matched its outwards appearance. Everything was held in a simple antique style, but with modern technology thrown into the mix.
