You hear knocks on your bedroom door. 'Y/N, wake up.' Your head jolts upright. Steve is still sound asleep next to you, with his face turned the other way. You quickly cover yourself in a blanket and run towards the door. Right when your older brother opens it, you put your foot in front of the door, making sure he can't open it more than necessary.

He looks at you and starts to laugh. 'Ah, I thought I could hear you "making up" last night.'
Your face turns red and you nudge him. 'Shut up! Does dad know?'
'Oh, he made sure to put an extra plate on the table, you know to replenish all the calories Steve may have lost last night.'
You close the door on him and can hear him laughing from outside. He thinks he's so funny all the damn time. But you're lucky to have such a good relationship with your brother.

'Oh look at the love birds!' You hear Mike say as you pull up at where the group is standing, this time you're the last ones to arrive. Mike is also a part of your friend group, he towers over everyone but contrary to his tough appearance, he's the sweetest boy of them all. Steve jumps off the motorcycle and greets all the boys with a friendly hug, but greets Billy with only a nod. Kat and Polly are standing a little further from everyone else. You were already friends before you've known Steve. You met Polly, same as Kat, in freshman year. You've been inseparable ever since. Polly is more of a rebel, with her purple hair. While Kat really is a girly girl.
'So everything's peachy again?' Polly says while you walk up to them.
You smile in confirmation. You still don't know how to feel about the whole situation. Perhaps you were too easy on him.
'Oh, that's absolutely great!' Kat hugs you tightly. She's way shorter than you but always wants to wrap her arms around your neck. 'We should grab some milkshakes at the mall after school! And finally, buy our prom dresses.' Kat looks hopefully to you and Polly.
Polly just shrugs. 'Fine by me.'

You're grabbing the history books out of your locker when you see some denim-covered legs appear underneath the locker door.
'So you and Harrington back together again?' Billy says while leaning against the locker next to yours.
'I guess we are.' You answer as you close the locker. 'Looking forward to another history class?' You ask Billy, already knowing the answer. He just sighs in response. This is the only class you've got together and coincidentally he sits right next to you.

Someone taps you on the shoulder. You turn around to see a girl, sitting on the other side of you, holding a folded piece of paper. 'Could you pass this to Billy?' Her fake smile bothering the shit out of you. She and the girl next to her are giggling.
You take it without saying a word and hand it over. He opens it, writes something on it and hands it back to you.
'I'm not going to do this all class again.' You say while you just throw the paper to the side without looking.
'You killjoy.' Billy says while side-eyeing you, but you see a faint smile on his face. A paper lands on your desk. When he opens it you read it over his shoulder.
"Meet me at the mall later? xoxo Taylor"
'How romantic.' You comment.
He crumples the paper and puts it in his pocket. 'I can get better than her.'
Surprised by that cocky answer you let out a loud laugh. The teacher looks up from the book he's reading out loud and looks you dead in the eyes. 'Sorry.' You say and put your hand up. He just continues reading.
'Is that so funny?' Billy whispers while he looks at you, pouting his lips a little.
'I mean, Taylor is kind of hot. I would do her.' You say jokingly.
'Hmm. I'd like to see that.' He starts laughing. You punch his shoulder which is not surprisingly, very hard.
'Hargrove, keep your mouth shut.' The teacher says, fed up with your shenanigans.

'Can I have a drag?' Steve asks you.
'Since when do you smoke?' You hand him over the half-finished cigarette. Steve has "borrowed" cigarettes before but it was always at a party when he had something to drink. You couldn't tell him no, because who were you to judge.
He just shrugs.
'Keep it.' You fish your pack of cigarettes out of your back pocket and light up another one.
Steve never really comes with you to the shack. It's mostly you, Polly, Lewis and Billy.
Lewis is a newer addition to the group. You all met him at a house party once and it clicked in an instant. Once in a drunken state he admitted to you that he's gay, but didn't want anyone to know. Since he is black, he is marginalised enough already. You feel really bad for him, having to hide who he really is. The secret made you and Lewis closer.

You get interrupted by Kat who comes out of nowhere, she mostly avoids these kinds of places because she thinks they're "dirty".
She looks disgusted at all the cigarette butts on the ground. 'Our mall date?' She just asks.
'Right.' Polly answers as she follows Kat back to the parking lot.
'I'm finishing my cig first.' You say. Polly puts her hand out to show she heard you while they walk back to the parking lot.
Lewis looks at his watch. 'Steve we have to go, I need to be home by 3.' Since you're going to the mall straight away, Steve has to catch a ride with Lewis.
'Alright.' Steve turns to you and kisses you softly. 'I need to work at 4 so swing by if you can.'
'I'll try.' You smile and look at him walking away.
Billy closes the gap the other people have left and stands closer to you.
'I know it's non of my business but, you still look angry with Steve.' Billy starts.
'I'm not angry with him.' You say seriously.
Billy holds his hands up while he takes a step back. 'Alright, alright. Forget I said anything.'
You fiddle with the cigarette between your fingers. Billy is staring at you intensely.
'I'm just... angry in general and don't know how to cope with it sometimes.' You say, surprised you're opening up to Billy of all people.
Billy chuckles. 'Find a wall to punch, or a person.'
You laugh and take the last drag from your cigarette.
'Thanks for the advice, I'll do my best to not follow it.' You pat him twice on the shoulder as you pass by, leaving him alone.

The Starcourt Mall was only finished a couple of months ago but it was definitely the new
place-to-be in Hawkins, with shops you could previously only dream about. It was a bit too crowded for your liking but you still enjoyed it here.
You are sitting on the side of the fountain in the middle of the mall, tired of all the dress shopping you've been doing.
'Why not Mike?' Kat says, afterwards, she takes a sip from her milkshake. Polly almost spits out hers. Kat and you laugh.
'Come on girl, we all know he likes you.' You say, mumbling because of the cigarette in your mouth.
Polly's face gets red. You three are figuring out who's taking who to prom.
'I hope Billy asks me.' Kat says looking at the skylight.
Polly and you look at her with your eyebrows raised.
'He has never spoken even two words with you.' Polly says.
'Please Y/N, could you maybe ask him? I know you two talk sometimes.' Kat begs.
'Kat, Billy would break your heart in two seconds.' You say while putting your hand on her knee.
Kat sighs. 'I know, but he's so hot.'
Polly chuckles.
'Speak of the devil.' You say when you see Billy walking towards you, he's walking next to Taylor, I thought he said he could get better than her?
He has his hands in his pockets and an unlit cigarette in his mouth.
'You got fire for me?' He asks.
'The only thing I'm good for, cigs and fire.' You say joking with him. You hand him a lighter.
'Nah, you also have weed from time to time.' He lits his cigarette, takes a deep breath, hands you back the lighter and winks at you. 'Good day to you all.' He walks away and Taylor gives you all the "I'm better than you" look.
'He has such a nice booty.' Kat says as she leans her head on her hand.
'Stop dreaming.' You say as you hit her softly on the shoulder.

'There you go.' Steve says as he sets a big bowl full of ice cream in front of your face, with two spoons in it. He takes off his "sailors" hat, his hair hasn't moved an inch. You left Polly and Kat to do some more shopping while you went to visit Steve.
Since Steve works here you've been having your "dates" at Scoops Ahoy a lot, which is great because who doesn't want free ice cream.
'Have I told you about the party on Friday already?' Steve asks, taking a spoonful of ice cream.
You shake your head, your mouth full of strawberry ice cream. You quickly swallow it, giving yourself a little brain freeze. 'I thought prom was on Friday?' You raise your eyebrows.
'It is, but this is the after-party. At Tony's place.'
'I mean, I can't say no to a good party. Prom will probably suck anyway.' You answer, moving around a cherry in the bowl with your spoon.

After your ice cream is almost finished and you talked about this and that you hear the girl behind the counter yell. 'Steve, I need your help!' When she sees you she stares for a little.
'That's my cue.' He gives you a kiss on the cheek, his lips feeling cold. You follow him to the cash register.
'What time you're off? Can I give you a ride home?' You ask while leaning on the counter.
'I have some more hours to go so don't worry.' Steve answers.
'Hi Robin.' You say as you put your hand up to the girl who works with Steve. She smiles at you, doesn't look where she's going and almost trips, so she drops all the metal plates she's holding.
'Oh shit.' You say as you walk behind the counter to help her pick them up, but before you do she stops you. 'Don't worry, I got it.' She shyly smiles at you.
'Alright.' You walk up to Steve and kiss him. 'See you tomorrow.'
