The sound of thunder wakes you up. You open your eyes, the room is lit up enough for you to see, even though the curtains are closed. You look at the alarm clock on the nightstand. It's 11:27 am. You grunt and throw the sheets off of you, the cold air of the room waking you up more. With your eyes still half closed you walk to the bathroom and take a long hot shower. Even though you slept for quite some time, you still feel exhausted. You dry off, dry your hair, put on some clothes and rummage through your room to pack your bags.

When you almost packed everything your stomach starts to growl. You walk out of your room, still a little out of it when you see Polly coming out of her room. She's only half clothed and her hair is a mess.
'Mornin'?' You say, confused. She stands there holding on to some clothes.
'That's not your room is it?' You say, looking her up and down.
She keeps quiet but relaxes more.
'Well, I'm going to eat breakfast if you want to talk.' You gesture to the stairs.
'I'll be there in a minute.' She says finally breaking her silence. She wants to turn the nob to her own bedroom, but to her surprise the door flings open before she can touch it.
'Figured it was you who was sleeping on my spot.' Steve says as he leans against the door frame. He casually looks at your direction until he realizes it is you he's looking at.
Your blood starts to boil. 'Well, you found another bed just fine.' You say as you cross your arms, realizing he came out of Kat's room.
'Y/N,' Steve starts but you are already going down the stairs.

You sit at the table with Polly alone and are munching on some Eggo's. You feel drained and can barely keep your attention to Polly's story.
'We just kept talking all night and,' She looks down at her plate. 'we ended up in his bedroom.' She stuffs her mouth. You're still on your first Eggo as you can't seem to find your appetite.
'It's not like no one saw it coming.' You say, laughing a bit.
'I'm just not sure if I want to date someone in the same friend group.'
You sigh and drop your Eggo back on your plate. 'You don't have to decide right now. Give it some time.' You stand up and give her a smile. 'Do you mind if I go outside for a bit?' You say as you look at the rain that already started to lessen.
'Go ahead.'

As you walk to the coat rack to grab the cigarettes out of your coat you see Kat walking down the stairs. She walks past you without saying anything.
'Excuse you?' You say as you find your pack and turn yourself around to face Kat, who took your seat at the table with Polly.
She still doesn't say anything. You walk up to the table and bang your hand on it, making the plates rattle.
'Hey! I'm talking to you.' You say louder now. Kat reluctantly looks at you.
'Explain.' You say and light up your cigarette inside. You know Kat didn't do well with people yelling at her, but that was the point, to make her feel uncomfortable. And you were angry.
'I don't have to explain.' She says, trying to make you feel intimidated by standing up quickly and getting in your face, but with her being way shorter and her voice being shaky, it didn't do the trick.
You snicker, the smoke you exhale hitting her in the face, she backs away.
'I think you do.' You narrow your eyes and look deep into hers, what makes her look away.
'It wasn't anything, he just needed to sleep somewhere.' She says so quietly you almost can't hear it.
You point around you. 'There are plenty of couches. So bullshit.' It was silent for a second.
'I thought you went asleep hours before?'
'I couldn't sleep.'
You start laughing as you feel the anger really getting to you. 'Kat, just tell me the fucking truth, I will find out anyway.' You take a long drag as you study Kat's face, all the fight she had in her, left. She looks defeated. 'I was jealous.'
You put your hand behind your ear and come closer to her. 'What?'
'I was jealous!' She yells, louder than she would have wanted.
'About what?' You see in your peripheral vision the boys came downstairs and were standing on the stairs, not wanting to interrupt. It seems like Kat hasn't noticed them yet as she starts talking. 'You've been spending so much time with Billy and you know how I feel about him!'
You start laughing loudly. 'You're jealous about Billy? Come on, Kat.'
She looks like a beaten dog, you start to cool down a little. 'So, your only logical thing is to sleep with Steve.'
'I didn't sleep with him! I just wanted you to think we maybe did.' Her eyes are filling with tears.
You sigh. 'What's wrong with just fucking talking to me, god damn it?!'
She starts to full on cry, but you leave the comforting to Polly as you storm outside.

You look at the rain dripping on the ground from the dry space under the overhang. You hear some thunder in the distance. It was like this place wanted us to leave. After an angry outburst you never felt guilty, but this time you did, but you know you are too proud to ever admit it. You've never been this angry with your friends before but sometimes the volcano erupts and there's no stopping it. You walk a little closer to the edge of the overhang, leaning against one of the support pillars. Sticking your hand out you feel the rain on your hand.
You hear the sliding door open behind you but don't turn around.
'You've hurt Kat.' You hear Steve say and hear the sliding door close again.
'I don't care.' You say, pulling your hand back and crossing your arms.
'She wasn't thinking...' You interrupt him by quickly turning around to face Steve and point your finger at his direction. 'Don't you defend her.' You bump against him as you walk past him back inside.

In the kitchen you see Polly and Kat have moved to the living room and the rest of the boys were all sitting around the table eating. You see that Steve has come inside as well.
You walk up to Billy, leaning on the empty chair next to him. 'Do you want to give me a ride home? I don't really feel like sitting in the car with Kat for a few hours.'
Billy just nods and goes back to his food. You give Steve an angry look as you go towards the stairs.

You walk behind Billy to his Camaro and jump in the front seat.
'Anyone else?' Billy says as he looks over his car to the rest of your friends standing in front of the house. No one answered.
'Alright.' He gets behind the wheel. 'Guess it's the two of us then.' He lights his cigarette and keeps it hanging out of his mouth.
'So, what was that all about?' He says as you get on the main road. You light up a cigarette yourself and crack the window open a bit.
'Don't act like you didn't hear it.' You say as you look at him, mumbling a bit because of the cigarette in your mouth. 'I saw you standing there.'
He smirks. 'Kat has feelings for me, big fucking deal.'
'She doesn't even know you,' You pause for a second. 'maybe that's why she likes you.' You start laughing.
Billy smiles a little and shakes his head. Making remarks like that was playing with fire, as it depended completely on his mood how he would react. You've seen people punched in the face for that, but you were willing to take the risk.
Billy steps on the gas, leaving the lake house and everyone else behind you quickly.
'Aren't you just making her more jealous by coming with me?' He says and he glances at you.
'I mean, out of all the stuff we did getting in the same car isn't the worst thing.'
Billy chuckles. 'I'm still waiting for a second round.'
'In your dreams, Hargrove.' You say as you throw your cigarette out of the window.
