Complications~Grey's Anatomy

First Day

The sound of retching wakes Derek, groaning as he gets out of bed and rubs the sleep from his eyes. He peeks his head into the bathroom thinking his wife would be in there but finds it empty. He finds it weird that it wasn't her puking her guts out. Walking into the kitchen he sees Meredith making coffee.

"I thought that was you in the bathroom."

Meredith shook her head, "Nope, that's your sister... sounds like she's either hungover or pregnant."

"She probably drank too much, she's not pregnant... right?"

"I hope not. Did you let her in last night?" She asked and handed him a cup of coffee.

"I thought you did," he said before taking a sip.

Gisele made her way to the kitchen and greeted them, "Morning."

      "Morning, I thought you were staying at Callie's."

"I was but I wanted my big brother to show me around," she answered as she began opening the cupboards.

"How did you get in last night?" He asked.

"I picked the lock... you need better locks."

"Or you could not pick the locks," Meredith muttered into her mug.

Gisele shrugged, "I knocked multiple times... Jet lag is a bitch, it's the one thing I hate about traveling. Do you by chance have any matcha, I'm gonna need caffeine to help me get through today."

Derek holds his mug out to her, "There's coffee."

She shook her head, "Don't drink coffee, it makes me nauseous after traveling, speaking of do you have any anti nausea medicine. I ran out and didn't get a refill like mom told me to."

"No, sorry." Meredith said.

"Oh, would've thought you did with being pregnant and all."

Meredith gives Derek a questioning look, "How did you know?"

"I worked with Addison for six months, I know a pregnant person with I see one."

"You called mom?" Surprise evident in his voice:

"No, I had a layover in New York and decided to see mom. I ended up staying there for a day, did I forget to mention that."

"Yeah." Derek said.

"By the way, mom said to pick up your damn phone." said Gisele before she walked back towards her room.

They both watched her disappear down the hall.

Meredith broke the silence first, "Your sister is a hippie."

Derek chuckled, "She is isn't she."

"What is matcha?"

Derek shrugged, "I think it's a tea."

Gisele had left early so she could fill out her paperwork, once finished she exited the conference room and spotted Derek walking towards her. She skipped over to him, closing the distance while holding up her badge.

"I got my ID badge."

He took it from her and looked at it, "I see that, you look good."

She playfully flipped her hair over her shoulder, "I know I do. Show me where the interns locker room is, please."

He nods and hands her badge back, "Are you nervous?"
