Bad Blood

The interns were gathered outside the OR door, contemplating why everyone was gathered inside while they were outside. After losing a battle of rock, paper, scissors, Jo peered into the window.

After a moment of observing, Jo walked back to the group, "It's about new hospital procedures, and we weren't invited."

"Thank god," Leah said, "It looks boring."

"Don't you guys get what's going on?" Jo asked.

Ross nodded, "Yeah, they're closing the E.R.and streamlining the place. It sucks, but–"

Jo had cut him off, "They're gonna fire us. Why bother teaching us the new protocols if we're gonna be gone anyway?"

"Chill, no one's getting fired," said Gisele.

Jo scoffed, "Says Dr. Shepherd's baby sister."

"You're crazy. It's not that bad." Stephanie added.

"Is it? Look at this," Jo went over to some drawers, pulling them open, "Nurses are stockpiling. The end is coming."

Having made her point to the group, Stephanie went over to the window and watched. A moment later the door swung open they all went back to be looking, except for Gisele, Jo pulled her back.

Gisele had made her way up to the peds floor and spotted Arizona and Alex.

She walked over to them, stopping in front of them, "I'm on you're service today."

"Who's?" He asked absentmindedly.

Gisele looked between both of the peds surgeons, "I was just told peds." She got no reply and followed their eyesight to the blonde 13 year old girl who had gotten hip surgery. She groaned, "Actually, I'll just go be in someone else's service." She was about to walk away when she was stopped.

    "Nope, she's technically you're patient too Shepherd." Arizona said.

    "But she's rude," said Gisele.

Callie approached them and asked, "Has she moved yet?"

Alec sighed, "What do you think?"

   "Is her mom here? 'Cause she's nicer when her mom's here." Arizona asked.

Callie shook her head, "No, she had to leave for work."

   "You sure the kid didn't eat her?" Alex joked causing all of them to laugh except for Callie.

    "You guys, stop." Callie said. "She's angry. She's 13 and had a double hip replacement. You'd be angry too."

   "She's mean," Arizona said.

   "Really mean," Gisele added.

   "Like a badger." Alex said.

Callie sighed, "She's three days post op now. Okay? What are we looking at if she doesn't move her hips, Shepherd?"

   "Clots, contractures, and an overall poor recovery." Gisele answered.

Callie nodded, "We have to make her do it for her own good," she then looked directly at Arizona and chuckled, "Look who I'm talking to, can't even put a toddler in tights."

   "Oh, oh, oh. Gr–Well, then you just– you show me how a bad cop does it." Arizona said with a smug look.

Callie looked into the girls room before looking back at Alex, "Karev, get in there."
