Almost three months had passed for the family, and both Edd and Ellody were off their feets excited.
"Is today the day?" Ellody asked in a hushed, but excited, whisper, gazing up at her mother. "Are you going to tell dad yet?"
Edd smiled and nodded. "Yup," he hummed, ruffling Ellody's hair. "I'm positive about the little guy. Daddy has been so busy and I don't think he's noticed yet."
"Well, shame on him!" Ellody cooed, giggling and scolding with a finger.
Edd smirked, placing his hands on his hips. "Oh, Elly. You're a card."
Ellody smiled wide, swaying her head. "I wanna tell daddy, though," she said.
Edd hummed softly. "We'll see, alright?"
Ellody nodded. "Okay!" she said, turning and bounding into her room, giggling as she passed Tord.
Tord smiled, approaching Edd and wrapping his arms around his lover. "Hey, darling," he said gently. "What's up Ellody's alley today?"
Edd chuckled, wrapping his arms around Tord's shoulders. "Oh, her and I have been hiding something from you for three months now. It's really exciting."
"Is it?" Tord asked, tilting his head. "Well... Tell me!"
Edd grinned, taking Tord's hands in his. "Well... Earlier this past month, I had taken a pregnancy test... Bad news or good news first?"
Tord frowned, his eye going sad. He thought there'd just be good news after he heard about the test Edd took. He wondered if the test was a negative. "Bad news first," he mumbled.
Edd giggled and cupped Tord's cheek. "Well, the bad news is, we don't know the gender of the baby yet. But, the good news is, the test came out positive! We're going to have another baby, darling!"
Tord almost hooted with excitement. A new baby. He was thrilled and full of happiness. In fact, he was so radiant that he picked Edd up and swung him around in his arms. "Oh, Eddy, this is wonderful!"
Edd beamed with pride, wrapping his arms around Tord's neck. "I had told Ellody and she nearly tripped head over feet. She's so excited to have a new baby brother or sister."
"I would be, too," Tord replied gently, looking at Edd. "Being cooped up in an army, basically being the only child around here, I'm sure she'll be very happy to have someone around more often. You know how busy we both can get, being the leaders of this Red Army and all."
Edd nodded slowly. "Yeah, I know. That's why I always hated leaving her alone. I didn't want her to get hurt or have any younger soldiers pick on her because she's a 'rule-breaker'. I can't believe some of them. Blaming a ten year old girl for being alive. It's not like she asked to be born. If anything, they should be mad at us and not her."
Tord huffed. "Exactly. Those soldiers are just ignorant and dumb. They have no brains in their heads, which explains why they would pick on just a young kid. I would've been glad to blow their faces off if I ever caught them doing that to her."
Edd shrugged. "I've caught only a couple of them, though. Believe me, I took them out when they were asleep. Basically, I followed them to their rooms, waited until everyone in the area was asleep, sneaked into their rooms, and, well, you know what would have happened."
Tord smirked. "Damn, Eddy. I had no idea you could be like that."
Edd chuckled, burying his face in the crook of Tord's neck. "Well, when it comes to our daughter, I'd do anything."
Tord furrowed a brow, gazing down at his lover. "And what about me?" he whined playfully.
"Of course, I'd do anything for you, just like I would Ellody," Edd said, meeting eye contact with Tord. "I'll do my best to let nothing happen to you both."
"Hey, that's my job," Tord said. "I'm the protector of this family. I keep you safe. No matter what happens, I will always protect you two."
"Tord, it's not like it's every man for himself," Edd joked, snickering. "We're a family. We're supposed to protect one another."
Tord chuckled. "Yeah, yeah, you're right."
"I would never put our lives in your hands completely. I know they can be difficult to hold and touch. But, you have to think about yourself, too. If something bad happens to you, you have to know that Ellody and I will be there for you. I know that if something happens to me and Ellody, you'll be there. And, who knows? Maybe Ellody will be there for us if we get in trouble."
Tord smiled, pecking Edd's cheek. "Yeah," he agreed. "I understand what you mean. Family should be there for each other. No one should be left behind or forgotten."
Edd nodded. "Exactly."
Tord decided to change the subject. "So... About the baby.."
"What about them?" Edd wondered, tilting his head slightly.
"How many months are you in? Two, three? You don't seem that big enough to be five months yet."
"Three months in, dear," Edd said gently. "Don't worry, I know when they baby will come around, okay?"
Tord nodded and hummed. "Do you want to get an ultrasound?"
"Of course. When should we schedule it?" Edd wondered.
Tord shrugged. "It doesn't really matter. We could do it now, we could do it next week, we can do it two months from now. We can keep doing it as many times as you want."
"Well, Tordy, I don't want to annoy the doctors," Edd said teasingly.
Tord smirked. "Oh, they won't act annoyed when I'm around. They know I'm someone not to mess with. Unlike the damned soldiers here."
Edd chuckled, poking Tord's cheek. "Alright. How about we do it four months, hmm? I'll be seven months in by then. What's the day today?"
"It's the 10th," Tord replied.
"Alright, October 10th... Four more months will be... February. We'll do the ultrasound February 10th."
Tord nodded. "Alright. Sounds good to me," he purred. "How does the name Ted or Teddy sound? It's kind of like a mashup of our names, hmm?"
Edd smiled. "If it's a boy, I like that a lot. We'll name him Ted. If it's a girl.. We can name her Tania?"
Tord smirked. "Yeah. I like it," he replied, nuzzling Edd gently. "Come on. Let's get some rest."
Edd nodded, wrapping his legs around Tord's waist. Tord carried him to their bedroom and lied down on the bed, holding Edd close to his chest. He saw that the brunette was already slipping off to sleep and he chuckled softly, kissing his lover's head.
After Edd was asleep, Tord closed his eyes and drifted off into nothingness.
