Chapter Eleven:

You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison

I knew my cheeks were red, especially since I couldn't wipe the stupid grin off my face.

"Do you know how cute you are when you smile? I'm so glad I can make you smile, because I never don't want to see it." He shifted a little and I accidentally fell off the couch.

Frank tried to suppress his laughing while helping me up. Mikey brought in three plates of macaroni.

"You really know how to cook a welcome home meal, brother."

"Yeah, yeah. Shut up and eat your food so we can figure you two out."

We finished our plates quickly, and Mikey pulled out his laptop- one that was high powered and specially programmed to be practically untraceable. It hummed as the screen lit up. Mikey quickly typed in the password and his background popped up. It was a picture of him and Ray when we went to the fair a couple years ago. Mikey blushed and hurriedly clicked on the web browser.

"Okay. Now, my dear brother and his dear boyfriend,"

Boyfriend? Are we still dating?

"You must promise me on each others' lives that you will not tell anyone about anything you are about to see. Got it?"

"Got it." Frank and I spoke at the same time.

He clicked buttons and tapped keys with a speed I'd never match. Up popped a page full of small, continuously changing green numbers. Mikey smiled proudly as he hit one last key, and the numbers disappeared to show a website full of top secret research files.

"Here we go, guys. This information is everything we need to know," He looked from our faces to the screen, "Hey, wait. There's a new one." He clicked on it with the mouse and the page loaded.

It was another research file, but something was odd. The first two things that had loaded on the screen were the words "TRANSMISSION TO THE LOST" and Frank's and mine pictures. Mikey scrolled down, and a description appeared under the photos.

Frank fearfully squeezed my arm. Something is definately off about us, especially if the government has our photos on file.

"What does this mean?" Frank finally spoke.

"I- I don't know. All I do know is you can't leave here or they might catch you."

"Great. Just as I get out of one prison, I'm forced into another." He put his face in his hands.

"It's okay," I put my hands on his shoulder to try to reassure him, "They're never gonna get me, or you." I hope...

I looked out the window at the orange and white lights strung across the city. Some of them were flashing over costumed couples strolling to their parties. Today is Halloween. Wait, today is Halloween!

I jumped up, "Frank! It's Halloween!"

"It's Hallowe- oh my god it's my birthday today! I didn't even think about it!"

I pulled him up and started dancing around the room with him, "Let's say we forget about the government for a little while to dress up and go partying?"

"I would love that. I suppose the quickest thing to be is a vampire. Do you still have fake blood?"

Mikey sighed, rubbed his face with his hands, and looked at us like we were idiots, "Just, be extremely cautious, please."

I ignored him, "Yeah. We have lots. My costume is going to be a surprise."

"Ooo, a surprise. Can't wait."

Frank went into the bathroom to change into his costume and put on fake blood. He chose white pants and a white short-sleeve button up. Fake blood had dripped off his chin and onto his clothes. He smiled and whispered 'perfect' to his reflection in the mirror. I let him be as I went into the bedroom. My costume was a blue suit with a red tie, which brought out my orangey red hair like a fire ball atop my head. I put on a little brown eyeliner, a couple sprinkles of greenish face glitter, and a headband that had neon antennas sticking up on it. My costume was perfect too; an alien that wasn't too snazzy, but also not too plain.

I stepped out and Frank gasped. We both looked pretty good, and almost unrecognizable. Blood and alien makeup can really change a person's appearance.

"Ready to go?" I asked, and Frank looked down.

"Well, I really miss my mom right now, but she would want me to be happy, so let's do this, honey." He leaned up and lightly kissed my cheek. A little bit of blood stuck on my face, and I left it.  We walked out the door as Mikey researched more on his computer.
