“I’m bored!” I exclaimed as I threw a paper ball at Alex, who was in love with her phone and earplugs.

She pulled out the earplugs from her ears and snapped at me, “What?”

“I told you, I’m bored,” I said for the millionth time for the day.

“What does it have to do with me?” she inquired and returned to listening music. One day, I wonder, will she marry her phone?

I looked out at the side of the aircraft we were riding on. I had lost count of the time we were onboard. Maybe 10 hours? I had no idea. We were travelling to New York from Yangon, Myanmar. Travelling to New York had always been my dream since I was a kid but I didn’t know that the trip would be so boring before arriving to the destination.

I nudged at Alex, who was looking annoyed by the guy sitting on other side of her, and asked, “How long have we been on the plane?”

“What?” she shot me a question in return.

I pulled out the earplugs and repeated my question. “How long have we been on the plane?”

“Don’t ask me, dude, I have no idea.” She tried to take the earplugs from me.

“Oh, no, girlfriend, you are not getting these back,” I teased her sarcastically. “And what’s up with that guy?”

“Shut up and just hand me my earphones, Allie. I don’t want to kill you on a plane.”

I stuck out a tongue in an immature way and put the earphones on the left pocket on my jeans. “Come on, Alex; stop making romantic dates with your earphones.”

“Jealous much?”

 “Of course, I reckon that_”

I was interrupted by the announcement of the pilot saying we were going to land so we had to put on the seatbelts.

Wait, what? Weren’t we only flying for 10 hours?

“You have been sleeping for, like, 5 hours, man.” Alex stated as if she knew what I was thinking.

“Oh.”

After we had landed on the ground, we headed out from the airport to find a hotel in the city. Alex got into an argument with the taxi driver who drove us to the Empire State Building instead of where we needed to go. Actually, we asked him to take us to a nice hotel but we ended up at the Empire State Building.

Even after the mistake he had done, he insisted that we had to give him money. That made Alex mad who afterwards began cursing at the taxi driver. They nearly beat the hell out of each other when I stopped them by paying the driver his money and pulled Alex into the building.

“Such a nice start of the trip,” I commented, obviously joking.

“You didn’t have to pay that dude the money,” Alex snapped at me. “It is his fault that we are here.”

“Come on, I’m pretty sure that you don’t want to go to jail during a vacation.”

“Whatever.”

“Since we are here, will you go up and enjoy the view of New York?”

“You will just see buildings. Plus, I don’t want to go around with these bags.” She gestured at our bags.

“Please,” I begged. “Please, please, please.”

“Urgh! Fine! Remember this, I will_”

She got interrupted when a boy with an orange shirt, black jeans and messy gray hair bumped into her. They both fell down on the floor as they lost balance.
