It's the day of Jennifer's funeral.
Shaylynn wakes up not feeling well, but she gets up and walks to the bathroom to get a shower.
Finally, after an hour she's done.
Walking out to the kitchen she sees Halstead standing there in his suit eating a breakfast sandwich.
He looks up and sees her, "You alright?" he asks her.
"I'm not feeling the greatest," Shaylynn tells him taking a bottle of water out of the refrigerator.
"Do you want to stay home?" Halstead asks.
Shaylynn shakes her head 'no', "I'm not staying home just because I don't feel well while Kelly is going through this!" she tells him.
"Okay, don't get yourself upset," he says as he walks over to her, "I'm just trying to take care of you."
"I know and appreciate you looking after me. When we get to the church let's sit in the back in case I need to get up. I don't want to be sitting in the front, need to get up, and disrupt the service," Shaylynn tells him.
"Alright," Halstead says kissing her.~~~~~~~
Arriving at the church, a lot of people are there and sitting in the pews.
Halstead and Shaylynn sit down with seconds to spare as the service starts.
Trying to keep herself together, Shaylynn thinks about anything and everything to keep her from crying.
As the service ends, everyone is ushered out of the church by the pews they were sitting in which means Shaylynn and Halstead are one of the first people outside.
Standing there, Halstead looks at Shaylynn who isn't doing any better, "Come on, why don't you go and sit down in the truck."
Shaylynn nods.
Halstead helps her over to the truck, opens the passenger door, and helps her sit down, "I'll be back as soon as everyone's ready.
"Okay," Shaylynn says trying to put a smile on her face.
The longer Shaylynn sits there, the more she starts feeling sick but holds it together since Halstead is providing the police escort and is a pallbearer.
After another ten minutes, everyone's in their cars as the coffin is brought out of the church and put into the hearse.Shaylynn sees Halstead walk with Severide and Beth over to the limo with Severide looking over at her.
Severide helps Beth into the limo, before getting in he looks at Halstead, "Is Shaylynn alright?" he asks.
"She woke up not feeling well," Halstead tells him, "But she wasn't about to stay home."
"She doesn't look good at all," Severide says.
"I'm keeping my eyes on her," Halstead reassures him, "Now get in the limo."
Severide gets into the limo, Halstead shuts the door and walks up to the truck and gets in.
As he puts on his seatbelt, he looks over at Shaylynn, "How are you doing?" he asks her as he starts up the truck.
She gives him a thumbs up which seems odd to Halstead but turns on his lights anyways and pulls out of the parking lot.~~~~~~
At the cemetery, the coffin is carried up to the burial site.
Halstead walks back to the truck to get Shaylynn and escorts her over.Four chairs are sitting in front of the coffin.
Benny is sitting in the first one with Beth sitting beside him, Severide beside her, and Katie sitting on the other side of Severide.
As everyone fills in and stands behind them, Severide turns around and sees the state Shaylynn's in.
He leans over to Katie who stands up and walks back to Shaylynn, "Take my seat," Katie tells her.
"Katie, no! I can't!" Shaylynn tells her.
"Kelly told me if you said that to tell you he'll get up and carry you to the seat," Katie tells her smiling.
Shaylynn looks at Halstead, "You better do what he says," he tells her.
"Alright," Shaylynn says.
Halstead helps Shaylynn up to the chair and helps her sit down.
Beth looks over at her with tears in her eyes as Severide takes Beth's hand.
He looks over at Shaylynn and takes her hand, he leans over to her, "Are you alright?" he asks her.
"Don't worry about me," Shaylynn whispers back as the graveside service gets underway.Once the service is over, everyone starts heading back to their cars.
Halstead has ahold of Shaylynn, helping her to the truck when she stops, "Shaylynn, what's wrong?" he asks her.
She shuts her eyes and grabs her stomach, "We need to hurry and get to Med!"
At that time Beth and Severide see Shaylynn grabbing her stomach, "Oh god, Kelly! I know that look!" Beth tells him with a frightened look on her face.
"We'll take the limo back to the church and get the car then head to Med," Severide tells her as they get in the limo.
They watch as Halstead gets Shaylynn in the truck and quickly drives out of the cemetery.
As soon as he gets out onto the street, he turns on his lights and siren.
