After the opening ceremony ended, we were leed to our designated seats and the host and announcer explained how the tournament will proceed. Each day there will be five events overall; four being matches and one being a game or a mini game. The game always comes first. They explained that it was a game where all teams need to have one representative. While the matches are randomly picked and could go for a dual battle or single battle matches.
"And since napaliwanag na natin ang mechanics ng tournament, why don't we introduce our special guest for today," the host began. "Let us welcome today's special guest, from the land of magic, the first princess of the Kingdom of Clove, Princess Megan Zara Claveria!"
The crowd cheered as soon as Ate Megan appeared from the shadows, taking the empty seat next to the host. Our jaws dropped as soon as she entered, all of us completely shocked from this sudden turn. We stared down at her from our seats as she wave her hand to the crowd. Her hair the same color as King Darlyn and her eyes the same color as the queen's. Now I'm wondering if Hya or Miku knows about this.
We were instructed that healers must stay in the clinic/infirmary of the arena and watch everything from there. But she could stil watch it with the holographic screen set inside the clinic.
"It's so nice to be here and watch the tournament begin." Bati ni Ate Megan. "Of course, I will be cheering on our team over there but nonetheless I bid every team the best of luck!"
"Why yes, of course." The host agreed. "Now for the first game of the week, we will be starting off with something interesting and this is called The Key Race."
Key Race?
"How this game works is that each representative will be sent inside a maze where they must find their way out. There are four exits representing the four kingdoms and the representatives must find the corresponding key and exit for their kingdom to finish the game." Paliwanag nung host. "There will be an alloted time of an hour. The first person to leave the maze will win 10 points, the second will be given 5 points and the third will only have 3 points. And for the last place, there will be no points."
"And to make things all the more interesting, traps are scattered across the entire maze. And if you do encounter another player in the field, you must either fight them or escape them; if one representative holds the key to your exit, you must snatch it away from them."
Its a maze with a twist.
"I never thought that the firsrt game would be this complicated." Angela commented.
"Gusto mo ikaw unang sumabak?" I asked.
"I'd rather not. Mas mabuting hindi muna ako ang lumaban. We shouldn't reveal our deck of cards until it was needed." Angela stated.
"Now everyone, please pick your representative." The host added. Who among us are great in mazes? Definitely not me nor Angela, we're bad with directions.
"So... sinong maglalaro?" tanong ni Claude.
"Ako at si Shiro ay paniguradong hindi pwede sa larong 'yan. So it's either the three of you." Angela observed.
"What about Mai?" Reiki suggested. Napatingin ako sa kaniya at sabay-sabay kaming napatingin kay Mai. Her eyes intent to the game and her mind probably thinking of ways to win. Dahan-dahan siyang tumingin sa direksyon namin and raised a brow.
