Chapter 21: Escape and Caught (Revised)

This is no match that I could win and it can cause my life. Calm you breathing, Angela, you've done this countless of times.

I backed away and before I could even make another step, Fire strangled me in his strings. My whole body paralyzed, curled inside his metal string that could cut me into pieces. One wrong move and I'll be sliced up. I buried myself underneath my magic, shadow cloaking me as I break through his strings with sheer strength. The strings binding me fell apart and I snatched my chain scythe from the ground.

I swung the chain scythe, throwing the chains as it flew in the air. Fire and Wrath stepped back away from me, leaving enough space for me to make a run for it.

I leaped as high as I can, grabbing the window rails as I pull myself up. I leaped again once I found footing and continued to do so until I am on the rooftop. I glanced below and they were following me. I ran, not letting them catch up to me. The hotel is not far from where I am but it'll take me a while to get there. And by then, maaabutan na nila ako.

I ran from roof to roof, jumping off ledges and parkouring in steep angles. I checked behind me and they were still there, chasing after me. And worse, they re getting closer. A grin curved onto Fire's lips and Wrath's eye ready to kill me. Balak talaga nila akong pigilan. At hindi sila titigil hangga't hindi nila ako napapatay.

Isang bubong na puno ng sinampay ang nadatnan ko mula sa 'di kalayuan. White layers of sheets crossed from one end to the other. A smirk crossed my lips as a scheme popped from my head. I wonder if a mere child's trick would work on them?

I ran towards roof filled with laundry sheets, running straight at it. Hinawi ko isa-isa ang mga kumot na madadaanan ko hanggang sa umabot ako sa dulo. I searched for the cable connecting it all. The sheets must've slowed them down dahil hindi pa rin nila ako naaabutan. Pinutol ko ang kableng nagdurugtong sa mga kableng pinagsasabitan ng mga sinampay at sabay-sabay itong nahulog.

Saktong paglabas nila mula roon ay ang pag-collapse ng lahat ng sinampay. Thick sheets of wool and blanket toppled over them, burying them beneath the sheets. Hindi ko na inantay pang gumalaw sila mula sa ilalim ng mga sinampay at umalis na mula sa bubong.

I ran pass buildings, jumping my way back to the hotel. Nakabalik akong ligtas sa hotel. Hindi na rin sila nakasunod sa akin. Everyone needs to find out what I gathered. Nagmadali akong bumalik sa kwarto namin. Jumping off the edge and clinging into the wall. Nag-ala spiderman ulit ako pabalik sa kwarto namin.

I climbed up to our balcony and entered the room. Sumalubong sa akin ang mga nag-aalalang mukha nila Shiro at Nikki. Hya and Mai are gone from the room while Reiki is still inside. At may isa pa silang kasama sa kwarto. He visited in the wrong time. Now he knows about my spy mission and about to find out that I barely escaped from the enemies' grasp.

Of course, why wouldn't they not tell Claude about my reckless mission. It was written all over his face. His face full of worry and displeasure. He's surely gonna give me a word. I just know it. And I don't want it coming from him nor from anyone.

Silenced filled the room. Cold sweat dripped from the side of my forehead as the gaze of his eyes met mine. I gulped, trying to remain unfazed by his intimidating gaze. My body stiffened, trying to maintain my straight composure.

"You have guts for someone who's staying lowkey," he clucked.

I flinched, triggered from what he said. He got me there. it slipped my mind that we're staying lowkey. And yet, here I am, caught red handed by the two people I am spying.

"So, what did you find?" Shiro asked, ignoring Claude's remark. Bumaling ako kay Shiro, eagerness in her eyes. Pumasok ako sa loob ng kwarto at isinara ang balcony door. I breath slowly in the agonizing suspense. The white curtains of the balcony shuffling back and forth from the wind.
