Chapter 20: Sneaking (Revised)

What did I get myself into? Never have I ever thought that a day would come that I would be sneaking inside the castle walls by myself. This is honestly not what I expect to do here. My first plan of roaming the palace and asking the guards failed and now I had no choice but to do this.

I need to find where they are hiding the Mystic Ball and know what dangerous thing it could do. At the same time, watching out in my surroundings so I won't get caught in the act. Not only will I be sent to jail but also, our team will be disqualified for the tournament and they'll be questioned for this.

"How did you end up doing this?"

I stumbled on my step, nearly falling off the ledge as a voice whisper into my ear. I nearly loss my footing as his sudden breath tingled in my skin. I faced him and his smug face with an annoying expression. Well, what do we have here?

"What the heck are you doing here?" I hissed.

"If you don't want to be caught, lower your voice." Miku reminded, dodging my question. This guy! Since when is he following me?

"I'm asking you a question."

"I followed you, obviously. You are one person I know that makes the dumbest decisions." He explained. Says the guy who followed me and my dumb ideas. I don't want that coming from him.

And because I had no choice, I continued my search and continued lurking around. Miku only followed me from behind, his body so close to mine as we make our way around. His presence enough made me flustered and be more aware of my surroundings. Seriously, bakit ba kasi sumunod ang prinsipeng ito sa akin?

The castle's walls were decorated and carved with flourescent and intricate ancient designs. Hard to climb onto because of the creases and round corners of it. The window pales, which are the most normal looking in the palace, where transparent and clean. Unfortunately, we couldn't see much because of the tall curtain hanging from the inside. My hand tremble every time I made a move. We were high up from the ground, up in the towering height of the palace, only holding onto a pieces of bulged rocks extending outwards the wall.

The castle has a unique architecture. There were outer walls dividing the outside and the inner forest and the inner walls which divides the inner forest and the castle. The castle's structure obscure and arcane. Like a mansion with a tower on the center of it, made as a watchtower not a chimney. There were also 4 watchtowers located on all 4 corners of the outer wall which I had a hard time going through.

Much worse is the arrangement of rooms on the inside. You can't tell if the entrance is either the throne room or a lobby.

I had a hard time sneaking in. With the whole place being heavily guarded and patrols going on and about. The palace also equipped with a powerful magic barrier. Thanks to that, hindi ko magamit ang magic ko. At wala akong magagawa kundi gawin 'toh ng mano-mano. At kapag nahulog ako mula sa tinutungtungan ko ay katapusan ko na.

What I found out so far? Guards are not well-informed of the sacred treasure hidden within the castle walls. The royal family of Fortis were relaxed despite the incoming threat, more on the children side of the royal family. They were being damsel-in-distress as far as I've seen them roaming around this huge, obscure castle. Being spoiled little runts.

From what one of the guards told me, the so-called "mystic ball" must be somewhere on the northwing of the palace. They said it was the most secluded part of the whole place, not even the head maids and butlers, or even a guard were able to set foot on the area. Something to either to look forward to or not.

My curiousity still lingering on Miku's arrival and his methods of getting in. Did he used his title? Probably, he's the type to do so. But how did he find me? Malamang talaga kanina pa ako sinusundan ng lalaking ito.
