The sixth bell rung, forcing Flynn to his feet with the rest of his classmates.
"Here's the worksheet due for next week today. See you all next lesson." Mr Hobbins concluded as he picked up his bag and left.
Flynn left the classroom after the others, waiting to make sure his skinny form didn't get trampled over. Once he deemed the route clear, Flynn headed towards his locker, picking up his swim kit so that he could head to practise.
The locker room was mostly empty excusing the few boys that were still getting changed from their PE lesson from the lesson before. He didn't recognise any of them other than Damon, the mid-built brunette who was just about finished getting dressed. Flynn didn't want to get caught looking, in fear of the teasing it might have brought him otherwise but before he could avert his eyes, Damon caught him. He dropped his head to the side, a bit of his dark hair misplacing himself with the movement.
"Wait there, Adams." He said, still not breaking the eye contact that he had initiated.
Flynn felt the cold from his anticipation creeping up his skin as he realised that now, he wasn't going to hear the end of it. He was going to be called the Creeper or something just as bad for the rest of his year 11.
Goddammit you just had to go around and stick your nose where it didn't belong, didn't you Flynn?
Damon had now finished fully getting changed and was now walking towards him. Flynn didn't know what to expect. Does he run away to make sure he doesn't end up being embarrassed? Does he listen to what Damon has to say? Maybe he wasn't going to comment on him looking over at all.
Damon was never a nasty person, he always seemed happy to help around but there were stories where people had tried to take advantage of his kindness and let's just say that it always backfired on them one way or another.
He took a few long, confident strides up to the gym's locker room door where Flynn was standing and looked him up and down.
Perfect. He thought to himself as he composed the favour he was going to ask. He noticed the way Flynn looked terrified, like he'd been glued to the spot with some of the strongest super glue. Sure, it was slightly weird how he had been nearly staring at Damon while he'd finished getting changed but over the last four years of high school, plenty of people had probably glanced over at someone getting changed. Kind of hard not to when everyone's hardly a few meters away from each other.
"Hey there Flynn." Damon said, looking to Flynn to return his greeting but all he got was a small nod. "You alright, you're looking a bit pale, you know."
Flynn was surprised at how nice Damon was being. He knew that if someone was watching him get changed, even if it was accidental, he'd be a little bit uncomfortable.
Then again, he didn't have Damon's body. The only place where Flynn felt comfortable being basically half naked was in the pool. He could then distract himself from whatever self-conscious thoughts he was having and put all his concentration into finishing the length that was in front of him.
"I'm fine. Did you need to say something because I think I might be late to practise if I wait for much longer." Flynn cringed at how harsh the words came out but looking at Damon's face, he realised that either he didn't care or he didn't pick up on Flynn's accidental slip up.
"You know that girl, Aniyah, who you swim with?"
"The quiet girl in Lane 1? What about her?"
Damon's face changed from the sweet smile he was holding before to a small frown that pulled the corners of his lips downwards. Flynn wouldn't have thought Damon even knew who Aniyah was. Sure, she was pretty but she didn't speak to anyone and when she did speak, she tried to keep it to a minimum. There were only a few times Flynn had spoken to Aniyah and when he did, she always blushed and went onto her next lap.
