"It's quite simple really. Those two, under no circumstances until the Protectors opening ball, can find out what they are."
"I dont kno--"
"Don't lie, you've known for a while. Plus, you seem to know so much about these vials so, don't lie to me again, Zero." he warned, playing with the BB bullet sized vials.
"There's another thing. While the two are residing here, you just need to make sure they're eating the same food as everyone else on that table."
The request was so absurd that in that second, it made sense how the other two subjects were getting their medication without knowing what they were.
He sent a warning look, telling her not to say a word to her new revelation.
Dawn didn't want to be involved in whatever was going on but having known about Flynn now, she couldn't do much else other than be involved if she still wanted to be involved with Flynn.
"Why can't they find out?" she asked instead, not wanting to heighten the tension in the room by talking about Aniyah. There was so much she wanted to ask, like why Aniyah wasn't allowed to find out about any of this.
"Because if they find out before the ball, anyone else from the opposing gangs may find out and the two of them, along with two others in this building and one other subject, as you know, will be in more danger than you could imagine."
"Can I tell him after the ball?"
Ismail had caught onto how she had spoken about just one 'him'. He raised his brows in response. She caught onto his look quickly before correcting herself.
"Them, can I tell them after the ball?"
"Leave it to me, they'll want a full explanation and sadly, I don't think you'll be the one to give it."
As much as they weren't the words she wanted to hear, she still respected his orders, knowing that of everyone in the bunker trusted him that much, she could as well. As far as she was concerned, Ismail knew more about the subject than any other live person.
She nodded before opening the door the the room, letting Ismail out.
There was a lot to think about here now. If she told Flynn, she would be putting him in so much danger, nevermind the fact that Ismail would probably kick her out. Yet, if she didn't she was basically betraying him.
One side of her told her that she was going to have to go with Ismail, that his plan was probably the one that was going to keep Flynn most safe. She'd only known him for a week or so anyways, she didn't owe him anything.
"Wow, who thought leaving one hell would mean I have to join another." she said to herself before starting to wipe down the counters.
George returned a few minutes later, bringing back up the table.
"I know that you're not allowed to tell me anything but is there anything from this that you can tell me?"
"I'm so sorry, George, but I can't tell you." she replied, watching his eyes lower a little. He must have known that she couldn't tell him anyways but still, he found it annoying that he wasn't going to be able to be involved when he played a vital role in making sure these boys stayed alive.
"Is Flynn waking up?"
"He woke up for a while but I got him back to sleep. You can wake him up for dinner later." he replied in a near monotonous voice, clearly letting Dawn know that even though she has strict orders not to talk about what happened, he still wasn't going to let it go.
