It had never occurred to Damon that such a simple task of asking Flynn to look over Aniyah could have lead to his perspective on things changing so quickly. Around 24 hours ago, he would have never seen himself following the girl that he had hardly spoken to the day before.

In the beginning of the day, Damon had entered the school building, only to be greeted by Flynn's troubled looking face. He ran over to Damon quickly, explaining how he didn't think it was necessary to look over Aniyah for any longer.

"Flynn, I don't think you understand. I know that girl."

Flynn looked at Damon like he had 'crazy' written over his forehead. "Damon, no-one knows that girl, let alone a boy who only spoke to her a day ago."

"No, I had genuinely thought about the fact that if I can't remember her from after my accident, there's a good chance I knew her from before. If I have a gut feeling about something, I always follow it up - they're something that should never be ignored." Damon felt a rush of deja-vu overcome him as he spoke those words, like he'd heard them being said to him before. "So I followed my gut and looked through some old family photos. It was hard to find but guess what?"

Flynn knew what was coming but either way, he found himself asking the question, his curiosity for the subject overcoming his need to stay out of someone else's business. "What did you find?"

"A picture, ever so small but it was definitely her and me, at some kind of fair. There was a ferris wheel in the background as we both ate from the same bucket of cotton candy."

Damon pulled a wallet out from his bag, looking through it as if he had difficulty finding it. Flynn was surprised when the tiniest of photos he had ever seen got pulled out of the wallet, one small enough to fit a small pendant one would wear around their necks.

He didn't lie when he said it looked like Aniyah but Flynn couldn't believe his eyes. This had to be before he had joined the school or he would have definitely remembered the quiet girl from Lane 1 being friends with the built boxer from the school's club.

Flynn suddenly felt fear, but not for himself. He thought about how if this was really true, if Aniyah and Damon really knew each other before, Damon wasn't going to be happy. He was going to find out what really happened between them and no one could stop him, not even Aniyah's sweet quietness.

Damon and he looked at each other, a quiet understanding flowing from ones hazel eyes to the others green ones. Aniyah was hiding a lot more than she wanted to let on.

Flynn found himself blinking away from Damon's gaze, snapping back to the fact that this still had nothing to do with him. If there was anyone Flynn didn't want to get involved with, it was Damon. Sure, he seemed sweet and kind but he had heard enough stories about him from out of school, none of which Flynn ever desired to star in.

"I guess you found what you were looking for. See you around." Flynn gave Damon a small wave before turning around, ready to go to his first lesson of the Friday. He had only taken a few steps before he felt a light hand on his shoulder.

He jumped, flinching to the side before turning around to face Damon's hazel eyes again.

"If it wasn't for you, I don't think I would have found out any of that about Aniyah."

Flynn was confused, not sure how he had even managed to help Damon in the way he apparently had. He never helped him look through Damon's photo albums or anything that could have substantially helped Damon find out anything of value.

Damon remembered sitting in his car last night, waiting for swim practise to be over for him to talk to Flynn, to see what he'd found out. He didn't need to when he saw Flynn stumbling out of the school building, seeming way too happy to be going home. He knew it had to be because of Aniyah since although he didn't seem keen on talking to Damon in the changing rooms, he didn't seem to be running for the hills after their conversation either
