"No, stop right there. What the hell do you mean that Flynn is Eagle?"
Aniyah didn't think she'd heard right the first time round but after Ismail had said it again, she realised that she had heard correct but that there was definitely a mistake.
"That boy has been in high school since the beginning. You know well that the boy we brought in all those years ago was not Flynn. The Eagle was so much bigger than Flynn for one."
She then thought back to when the caught the Eagle, trying to remember what she had seen but she could only remember the same blonde hair as Flynn now had. It still wouldn't have made sense though, even Flynn didn't know he was Eagle.
It suddenly made sense how Flynn was able to bust them out of the La Morte hideout almost single handedly but that didn't explain at all the sudden memory loss that Flynn musty have suffered.
Ismail shook his head and fell onto his back on his bed.
"There's so much you've missed out on over the past few years, Jag, so much you need to catch up on."
"Well then you better start or I'm going to beat it out of poor Flynn." Aniyah said, not still able to get it out of her head how none of this would make sense to her even if she tried to make sense of it.
"Flynn wasn't always Eagle, you're right. The boy we brought in all those years ago was 4 years older than we were. You want to know his name? Walter Teller."
"So what do you mean then that Flynn is Eagle."
"Captain had gotten it wrong. That whole time, he was under the impression that the Teller family was talking about Walter when they gave they spoke about the skill set their boy had. Captain obviously thought they were talking about Walter and they didn't really get to ask which boy it was before the attack. Obviously they took the 18 year old over the 14 year old and hid Flynn. That was the night we busted out Walter. You'd met Flynn for a quick second but I'd gotten him out of the attack in time."
Aniyah raised her eyebrow, telling Ismail to hurry it up.
"They tried putting Walter out for a mission and he was right, don't get me wrong, but not as good as the skill sheet we were given so when we asked him, he told us they had gotten the wrong brother."
"Wait, how would you have even known about all of that if you were let go?"
A small nervous chuckle left his lips as he looked at Aniyah.
"I never really wanted to leave. A few weeks after we'd gotten out, I got bored. Becoming a psychologist used to be my dream but after I actually tasted what normalcy was like, I didn't like it. I missed being able to run around the street keeping the bad guys off."
Aniyah felt some kind of anger take her over. She didn't agree with his heart.
"You're trying to tell me that you were let out of the group and you came back? You were given a chance at a normal life and you turned it down? And so you thought I'd be completely down with you bringing me back into this life as well?"
He didn't look annoyed which only fuelled Aniyah's feelings more.
"Well you didn't seem like you were having any fun being a fake, shell version of a shy girl that didn't exist, did you?"
The thing that irked her the most was the fact that he was right. Being happy in this life of danger wasn't something she would have believed in a few years ago. But it's also the fact that it was this life that made Rider loose everything he was. If it wasn't for this life, they would have been perfectly fine and they might have even had a chance at being normal.
