I just need time

Ren sat down on the couch in her home, Koran in her arms. She smiled down at her blue-haired beauty. She hummed for a moment before her soft voice filled the air around the mother and daughter.

"The stars are very beautiful, above the palace walls, they shine with equal splendour, still above far humbler halls. I watch them from my window, but their bright entrancing glow, reminds me of the freedom I gave up so long ago. The royal circlet of bright gold rests lightly on my brow, I once thought only of the rights this circlet would endow. But once I took the crown to which I had been schooled and bred, I found it heavy on the heart, though light upon the head. Although I am the head of state, in truth I am the least, the true Queen knows her people fed, before she sits to feast. The good Queen knows her people safe, before she takes her rest, thinks twice and thrice and yet again, before she makes request." Koran coos softly as her mother sings to her.

Their sweet moment is ruined as a loud knock sounds from the front door. Ren sighs as she carefully sets her baby in her crib. She was suddenly glad they had one in the living room and their bedroom. It was far easier and much safer than carrying her around all day.

She runs a finger down her daughter's cheek before moving towards the front door. She opens in and frowns deeply as her eyes land on her biological parents. How had they gotten her address? What were they doing here?

"Oh, look how beautiful you are..." Her mothers' tone was soft and kind. It unnerved Ren greatly. The woman had never been kind to her and she most certainly never spoke like that.

"What are you doing here?" She hisses quietly, knowing any louder and her daughter will hear it. Her ears pick up most sounds and were far more sensitive then you would believe.

"We came to see you." Her father spoke as if it was the most obvious thing ever.

Ren snorted and shook her head. "You came to see me? That's cute. I've been in Japan for years and never once did you come to see me. "You've known I was alive far longer than that and never once did you look for me. Hell, you had the chance to bring me home but left me in the hands of a militia. It's a little fucking late, don't you think?"

"Ren," her mother reached out for the girl only for her daughter to snarl and slap her hand away.

"Get off my property before I call the police. And make sure to stay away from me and my family." She hissed and went to close the door.

Her father grabbed it, keeping it open. His glare was harsh and daring. "Listen here, girl."

"No, you listen here. I want nothing to do with you. You are not my family. You are nothing to me. So leave and never come back. Because Tom might not have proof of what you did but I do. I will not hesitate to fucking ruin you." She shuts the door in their face and locks it.

Ren moves back into the living room and sits down beside the crib. Koran gurgles and puts her fist in her mouth. Ren laughs and shakes her head fondly.

"Hungry little one? I'll go make you a bottle." She leans down and kisses her daughters head carefully.

"I want to move as soon as the boys get home." Ren tells her husband as she stands in front of the stove cooking dinner. She had decided after her parents had shown up that it was time to move.

"That gives us three days to find a house." He frowns as he looks down at Koran in his arms.

"I know... But it's not like we are hurting on cash or need a loan to be approved. I also spent the day searching and found quite a few listings that I liked. They're large enough for our family, we'd all have our own space and wouldn't be tripping over each other all the time." She frowns down as the dinner cooking before her.
