This all takes place while the tragedy in Riverdale is happening

We are going to miss the sunset if you don't hurry we'll miss the sunset!" Stefan calls.
"Hold up! I had to put an actual outfit on, if we are going out I wasn't just going to where ur shirt." Betty laughs, running down the stairs.
"Where's Elena?" Jenna asks.
"She's in bed sick. That's why she wasn't answering your calls Stefan. Her phone is off." Betty states.
"Oh, I'm going to quickly go upstairs to say bye to her then." Stefan says.
"Ugh hurry!" Betty says, hugging Jenna goodbye.

Knock knock
"Elena?" Stefan pushes her bedroom door open and walks in. She's lying in her bed trying to sleep.
"Oh hey Stefan. Sorry I can't come to watch the sunset with you and Betty. I feel like I'm always sending her off with you instead of hanging out with her myself. Sorry." Elena mumbles.
"No no no, don't be sorry. Get some rest, feel better okay? Besides, Betty is great company but I do miss you."
"I promise when Betty goes home and I'm feeling better, we will hang out more like we used to." Elena says.
"Sounds good to me. When is Betty going home?"
"I'm not sure, ask her for me. Bye Stefan." Elena whispers, falling asleep.
Stefan kisses her forehead and leaves the room.

Stefan and Betty drive to the top of a cliff and sit on the front of Stefan's car to watch the sunset.
"It's beautiful." Betty smiles, "We don't have sunsets as pretty as these back in Riverdale."

"When are you going back?" Stefan asks.
"To Riverdale? Pfft I don't know. Never hopefully." Betty says.
"What is keeping you away? You obviously have friends back there." Stefan asks.
"It's just too hard to be there. Mum, Polly and Dad are just too much. They want me to be someone I'm not and I'm sick of it." Betty explains.
"Is Polly your sister?"
"Yeah. One year older. We were always very close growing up and usually I'd go to her when I need advice or if mum and dad are driving me crazy but nowadays she's always with her boyfriend. She's never around." Betty says.

"Damon and I were always close to growing up. Many centuries ago."
Betty giggles, "What happened between you two?"
"We grew. We changed. But there was this girl, her name was Katherine. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. I was in love with her, but so was Damon. We were both newly vampires at the time but she was human. She chose me over Damon and he got very angry about it so he turned her."
"He made her a vampire? That's awful." Betty says.
"Yeah. She became so depressed as a vampire and I couldn't do anything to help her. She actually ended up taking off her daylight ring and going into the sun because she hated her life as a vampire so much."
Betty doesn't say a word, she's stunned. But of course Damon would do that to someone he loved if it meant getting revenge.

"Katherine was amazing. She was elegant, confident, romantic and my favourite thing about her was that she never wished harm on anyone. She was an angel. She treated everyone equally, she always played fair, she was a great listener and all she wanted was for me to be happy. I was so blessed to have her. It's the kind of love I thought I could never get over but I did, eventually. Took me a while though."
"And now you have Elena." Betty smiles.
"Yes I do. I'm a very lucky guy." Stefan smiles.
"Except for the fact you have a psychotic brother, you've watched most of your friends and loved ones die and you will never be the normal boyfriend Elena needs." Betty says.
"I love how optimistic you are" Stefan jokes, "What do you mean about not being what Elena needs?"

"Well, don't take this the wrong away but you and Elena aren't going to be together forever. You do realise that right?" Betty says.
"What makes you say that?" He doesn't sound angry, just confused.
"You're immortal and she's not. Unless you turn her she's going to keep growing old and  continuing with her life. One day she's going to want to get married and have kids and she's going to want a husband she can grow old with. Besides, even though you guys are in love now..high school relationships rarely last." Betty explains.
Stefan doesn't say anything, he just watches the sun set in silence.

"I'm sorry, it shouldn't have said-" Betty starts.
"I've never seen you without that stupid ponytail. You should let your hair down more." Stefan interrupts.
"Uh...this ponytail is iconic. I'm not Betty Cooper without it."
"Don't be stupid Betty. The way you look doesn't determine who you are. Now take it out." Stefan grins.
Betty hesitates, "Fine. But only for a minute!"

Betty pulls her short blonde hair out of her tight ponytail and tries to brush it with her fingers to make it look more natural.
"Wow. You look great." Stefan says.

Betty leans in closer to Stefan and presses her lips against his but he instantly pulls away.
"Betty, what are you doing?" He says suddenly angry.
"Fuck, I'm so sorry." Betty shakes her head and closes her eyes, "I don't know why I did that."
"I do. The sunset, the talking openly. It's romantic." Stefan says, "Look it's okay, I'm not mad. I get it, you weren't thinking."
"Yeah, that's it. I'm sorry."
"Stop apologising. It was a mistake, it's fine. Now tell me about Jughead."
