Riverdale Falls

11: Elena.

"Hey ba- woah you've been drinking." Jeremy smiles.
"I'm sorry" Betty looks to her feet and frowns.
"About drinking? I don't care about that, next time invite me." Jeremy jokes.
"Not about that, about last night." Betty says.
Jeremy's smile drops instantly. He puts his hands around her face and she looks up into his eyes. He looks hurt and lost.

"Why?" He asks.
"It was a mistake. You're Elenas little brother, Jer. We can't do this."
"So I'm just Elena's little brother to you?" Jeremy's voice turns from hurt to angry.
"Yes."
Jeremy lets go of her face and storms out.

Elena watches Jeremy storm out.
"What's his deal?" Elena asks entering the room.
"Oh nothing." Betty smiles.
"Where have you been?"
"I was with Veronica before she went back to Riverdale." Betty lies.
"Oh okay. You should have called me, I was so worried."
"I lost my phone, I think I left it at Stefan's house the other day."
"Go round to his house now and look for it. You can take my car."  Elena insists.
"Um I don't really want to see him right now." Betty sighs.

"Betty, I already told you. He's a good guy, he just happens to be hundreds of years old" Elena shrugs and sits on her bed.
"It's not that."
"He's not going to hurt you! Damon won't either. Believe it or not Damon is actually a good guy..sometimes."
Betty shivers at Damon's name.

"D-Did Stefan not tell you what happened?"  Betty stutters.
"No? What happened?" Elena suddenly looks cornered.
Betty sighs, "Damon..tried to kill me."
Elena tenses up and gulps, "No Damon wouldn't do that. He's changed."
Elena stands up and shakes her head, "Don't blame shit on Damon, he's not like that."
Betty's jaw drops in shock, "You're siding with him right now?"
"Stefan shouldn't have told you the truth about him and Damon." Elena sighs.
"He didn't really have a choice. Damon tried to kill me and Stefan saved me. I had vervain in my system so he couldn't compel me to forget I- why don't you believe me?"
"I'm going to go take a bath, go get your phone for, Stefan's house." Elena picks up a bath towel and leaves the room.

Elena's POV
I push the bathroom door closed and sigh.
"Is it true?" I refuse to believe Betty is telling the truth.
"Is what true?" He sighs.
"You know what!" I can't help but to raise my voice.
"Shhhhhhhh, Elena. It's not true." He steps closer to me and kisses my neck.
"Why would Betty lie about that?" I ask myself out loud.
"Mm mm." He continues kissing my neck.

I step away from him, "Damon, this is serious! Of course I believe you didn't attack her but why would she lie? And why would Stefan tell her your secret? He told he the first day he met her and he waited weeks to tell me!"
Damon steps closer again, this time he doesn't kiss me he just looks me straight in the eyes, "How about we stop talking about Stefan"
I smile, "You're right. I'd much prefer to have a nice relaxing bath with you."

(END OF ELENAS POV)

"Stefan!" Betty calls.
He walks out of the basement.
"Betty, you're back so soon." Stefan raises his eyebrows.
"I'm still pissed at you, it's just I think I left my phone here and I need to find it."
"I don't think it's here. Sorry."
"I'm going to look anyway." She rolls her eyes.

Stefan grabs her arm lightly, "Wait."
"Let go of me, I need to find my phone."
"I'll look for it, you should go shower in my room."
Betty lets herself smile for a split second, "Are you saying I smell?" She jokes, frowning as soon as she remembers she's mad at him.
"Yes, of booze. Follow me." Stefan half smiles.

Stefan leads Betty upstairs and into his room.
"My bathroom is right through that doorway. Just leave your clothes on the ground, I can wash them and return them to you later. You can wear this after you shower." He hands her his grey t shirt.
"Thank you, I'm still angry though."

Stefan smiles and starts to walk away.
"Stefan?" He turns around, "I called things off with Jer."
He can't help but to smile brightly, "Good"

Stefan starts to walk away again.
"Oh and Stefan?"
He turns around and smirks, "Yes Betty?"
"Are Damon and Elena close?" Betty asks.
"No, not at all. I don't think she can stand to be around him too long. Why?" Stefan asks.
"It's just, right before I came here I told Elena about what happened between me and Damon and she didn't believe me. It's like she was in denial. She said he's a good guy"
Stefan's smile fades, "Thanks for telling me."
"Now go find my phone."

Elena's POV
Damon makes me laugh, he makes me smile. Spending time with him fills me with excitement and joy. Damon knows how to please me in ways Stefan can't. He loves me, and I love him. Sometimes I fear that he only loves me because I'm Stefan's or because I look like Katherine but I try my hardest to believe he loves me for me.

Ring ring
I sigh loudly.
"Who is it?" Damon asks.
"No one." I switch my phone off.
Damon snatches my phone off me and looks through my missed calls.
"Stefan." He clenches his jaw.
"See? Like I said, no one." I lie.

No matter how much I love Damon, Stefan will always mean something to me. After all, he is my boyfriend.

"Why didn't you just say it was him calling?" Damon asks.
"Because I didn't want to ruin the mood! Look at us,  we are alone together, in a nice warm bath, naked..." I grin.
Damon smirks and starts kissing me.

(END OF ELENAS POV)

"Hey, you've reached Elena Gilbert. I can't answer the phone right now so please leave a message after the beep."
"Hey Elena. Call me back when you can. I need to ask you something about...well just call me back soon."

"Stefan." Betty smiles.
"How do I look?" Betty asks.
She does a cute little spin in Stefan's top.
"You look great." He smiles, but she can tell he's hurt.
"What's wrong?" She asks, putting her hand on his arm.
"It's nothing."  Stefan forces a smile.
"Don't be stupid. Tell me what's on your mind." Betty asks.

"It's Elena. And Damon. I rarely see Elena anymore, even before you got here and same goes with Damon. What if they are together?"
"As in together together? Is Elena that stupid?" Betty asks.
"I haven't been paying attention to see if she's been wearing her vervain necklace I gave her, what if he took it and is compelling her?" Stefan says, "I'm worried about her."
