5: Fallen ill

"Where is she?!" Veronica asks.
"Stefan! Elena! Betty?!" Caroline calls.
No answer.

"Maybe they left." Caroline sighs.
"Damon?!" She yells.

"Caroline and friends." Stefan greets.
Caroline, Jughead and Veronica turn to face Stefan.

"We're not her friends. We're just here for Betty." Veronica assures.
"Oh, well she's not here, sorry."
"A. I know that she and Elena came here. B. Were you there the whole time?" Caroline asks.
"A. Well she's not here anymore. B. Yes, you just didn't notice." Stefan smiles.

"Caroline promised us that Betty would be here." Jughead says.
"Well, Buddy, she's not here sorry." Stefan assures.
"Look, Buddy, I know that Betty is here or at least was here."

"What makes you think that?" Stefan asks.
"That's her necklace." Jughead points to a necklace on the ground.
"She hasn't been here. I don't know a Betty." Stefan lies.

"Stefan!" Betty yells.

Veronica, Caroline and Jughead look up in shock.
"She's upstairs!" Veronica tells.
Caroline and Veronica run upstairs.

"She's not here?" Jughead says.
Stefan doesn't say anything, he doesn't even look at Jughead. Jughead punches Stefan in the face and runs upstairs.

"Betty!" Veronica sighs with relief, seeing Betty in Stefan's bed.
"Is this Stefan's room?" Caroline smiles, looking around.
"Where's Stefan? You need to stay away from Stefan and Damon!" Betty warns.
Veronica has a confused look, but Caroline is to busy looking around Stefan's room to care.

"Betty!" Jughead runs into the room and next to Stefan's bed, where Betty is laying.
"Jughead?" Betty asks.
"We need to take you back home to Riverdale. Get up, let's go." Jughead states.
"No, I don't want to go home. And I feel to weak to get up." Betty says, her head spinning.

"Betty we came all this way to take you home. Come on." Veronica insists.
"No, I'm staying with Elena." Betty says.
"Where is Elena?" Caroline asks.
"I think she's still with Jenna." Betty says.

"Betty." Stefan stays.
"Stay away from me! I mean it!" Betty yells.
"Betty, what did he do to you?" Jughead asks, holding her hand.
Betty doesn't answer, she just stares at Stefan.

"Betty, let's talk. It'll be ok." Stefan says.
"No, Stefan! Stay away from me, my friends and definitely Elena!" Betty yells.
"What did he do to you?" Jughead repeats, angrily.
"It's not what he did, it's what he is." Betty cries.

Jughead is clearly confused, "What is he?"
Betty is shaking, scared of Stefan.

"You need to leave my house." Stefan says.
"Not without Betty."
"Jughead. Leave. You need to. You're not safe here." Betty sighs, still shaking.
"If it's not safe for me than its not safe for you." Jughead says.
"Elena will be here any minute now." Betty doesn't mini what she's saying.

"Come home." Veronica says.
"No, Ronnie. I need to stay with Elena."
"At least let us take you to her house?" Veronica insists.

It's like they don't realise that Stefan is standing in the doorway, listening.

"No. I want to talk to Stefan." Betty lies.
She doesn't really want to talk to Stefan, or be alone with him, but she wants her friends and Caroline out of Stefan's house. He could hurt them and she doesn't know where Damon is. She knows Stefan won't let them leave if they have her.

"Leave." Betty orders, her head aching badly.
Jughead stands and walks straight out of the room without looking back.
"Veronica. Caroline." Betty says.
Caroline carelessly leaves too. She feels as if Betty is insane, Stefan isn't someone to be sacred of.

"Bye Stefan." Caroline flirtatiously smiles as she walks past him.

"Ronnie." Betty groans.
"I'm not like them, you're clearly scared and I won't leave you." Veronica says.
"You have to leave, now." Betty doesn't really want Veronica to leave.
"No." Veronica smiles and sits in the bed next to Betty.

"She can stay." Stefan smiles.
"Stay away from us." Betty warns, "I know what you and Damon are. Where is Damon?"
"Locked up in the basement."

Stefan steps closer to the bed.
"Stop!" Betty warns.
"Right, Sorry." Stefan backs up.

"Explain." Veronica says.
"I can't explain if I don't know." Betty says.
"I can't explain when Veronica is here." Stefan states.
"Well I'm not leaving." Veronica assures.
"That's fine with me." Stefan says, about to leave the room.

"Wait, Stefan!" Betty yells, making her head sting more.
"Yes?"
"Please Explain. You can trust Veronica not to tell anyone." Betty says.
Stefan hesitates, "What do you want to know?"

"What are your intentions with Elena and I? Are you going to kill us?" Betty asks.
"I don't kill humans. I feed off animals. I love Elena and I would never dream of hurting you either."
Veronica is clueless and confused.

"You expect me to believe that? What time is it?" Betty asks.
"7." Stefan says.
"I've got to go see Elena. I haven't even unpacked yet." Betty sighs.
"Are you feeling ok?" Stefan asks, concerned.
"You don't ask the questions." Betty says.
"You look really pale." Stefan notices.
"I feel fine." Betty lies.

"I think I should call Elena." Stefan suggests.
"No! It'll ruin her day if I'm sick." Betty groans.
"So you do feel sick." Veronica sighs.
"I'm calling Elena." Stefan states.
"No, you're not! Betty doesn't want you to and from what I've heard, you should listen to her! What ever you've done to Betty means you obviously owe her and calling Elena against her will isn't helping your case." Veronica huffs.

"What am I supposed to do, leave her here with you?" Stefan says.
"Yes. Leave her here in my capable hands." Veronica orders.
"Where are you going?" Betty asks.
"To help a newly vampire learn to eat animals and not innocent people." Stefan says.

Even though half of her feels like he's lying, she can't help but to smile. Through all her pain and scared-ness, there is a chance that's he is a good vampire, who will protect her and only feeds on animals.

"Vampire?" Veronica repeats, slightly freaked.
