14: wheres jughead?

"Jughead was my home. He made me feel so protected and safe but all good things must come to an end. I broke up with him simply because I wasn't feeling it anymore. He didn't handle the breakup well and I guess I didn't either. We spent two years together and I just fell out of love so quickly, it's intense. Then he followed me here and didn't even bother to say goodbye."

Stefan sighs. It had been 24 hours, Jughead was still locked in that cage without being able to feed. But perhaps that's what was best for Betty. He's too much trouble for her.

"Can you drop me back at Elenas house?" Betty asks
"Yeah." Stefan says.

"Hey Jenna." Stefan smiles, "Is Elena still in bed?"
"Yes, would you mind checking on her for me?" Jenna asks.
"No problem."  Stefan heads upstairs.

As soon as Stefan enters Elena's room he can smell Damon.
"Stefan." Elena smiles, she's still in bed.
"Hey Babe." He kisses her on the forehead, looking around.
"What's wrong?" Elena asks.
"Has Damon been here?" Stefan asks.
"No." Elena says.
Stefan knows Elena is lying from her heartbeat.
Why would she lie? Stefan asks himself.
"I gotta go." Stefan says leaving the room.

"Get some sleep, V" Caroline says.
Veronica crawls into her bed and shuts her eyes tight. Caroline sits on the bed and watches Veronica fall asleep. When she's sure V is asleep she paces around the room packing her duffel bag. She couldn't possibly stay in Riverdale, it was all too much. Jason Blossoms death, Archie and Veronica's relationship and she was sure her mum missed her.

"What are you doing?" Veronica asks.
"V!" Caroline says, "Oh um I'm just packing."
"Why?" Veronica asks.
"I have to go home." Caroline admits.
"Please stay. Everyone keeps leaving me. Daddy, Betty, Jason. None of my friends from New York have contacted me since I moved here. I need you to stay with me." Her eyes red and puffy from crying.
"V....I can't stay here. This Jason guys death is just so much, I need to go home." Caroline says, picking up her duffel bag.

"Caroline..." Veronica pleads.
Caroline walks out and leaves the apartment. She gets into her car and just breathes for a moment. She sees Veronica running out of the building so she turns on the car and drives off.

Text from Jeremy Gilbert

Come to my room. We need to talk.

Stefan puts Betty's phone back in his pocket, shaking his head. He sighs and slowly walks down stairs to check on Jughead. Jughead will die if he doesn't feed on a human but Jughead refuses. He walks down the stairs and stops in his tracks when he sees the door wide open and Jughead no where to be found.

"Shit" He mutters, running back up the stairs.

First thing he does is dial Elena's number. She answers almost instantly.

"Hey Elena is Betty with you?"
He needs to make sure Jughead hasn't gone looking for her.
"Uh yeah she's having a shower. Why? Did you find her phone?" Elena asks
"No not yet. I was calling to see if she had found it." Stefan lies
"Oh, well, I'm sure she'll message you when she finds it. She might have to get a new one. That'll be good for her though, a fresh start. No more Jughead. Did you know he left town without saying goodbye?"
"He probably thought she wouldn't want to see him. It's not like they're together anymore."
"Yeah true."
"Also there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about." Stefan sighs.
"Yeah?"
"Damon"
