//Rigby's POV\\
I sighed as I opened my eyes. Here we go again. Another long day.
I turned on my opposite side to face Mordecai's side of the room. There was a fair amount of light shining through the window, so I was able to see his bed... And how empty it was.
I chuckled. Yeah, of course. He probably didn't want to be there when I woke up. Understandable.
I got out of bed, slipped on a hoodie, and began walking down the staircase. But when I took my first step down, I heard laughter coming from the kitchen. I raised an eyebrow.
Okay...?
I kept taking steps and listening as the laughter got closer. I finally reached downstairs and that's when I heard talking.
I couldn't process what was being said, it was pretty quiet. I proceeded to the kitchen, quietly taking small steps while trying to listen.
"Haha, yeah, I know!" I heard Mordecai's voice exclaim. More laughter.
I peeked my head around the doorframe. He was on the phone. I sighed and entered the kitchen.
"Pfft. No way, " He chuckled. He turned around when a floorboard under my foot creaked. He glanced at me and gave me this- indescribable look. It was filled with disgust and confusion. It made me feel sick.
"Yeah-- well, yeah, I disagree haha!" He paused, glaring at me more harshly, "Uhm- I'm sorry but I have to go, " His voice trailed off, "I'll talk to you later, yeah? Alright! Bye, Margaret!"
I growled. Yeah, I should've known he would be talking to her.
"Hey, " Mordecai said quietly, as if he was afraid to speak. His phone beeped as he hung up. I gulped and nodded as my way of communicating back. I walked past him to sit down at the table.
"What?" He asked, confused. I had to laugh at that.
"Are you joking?" I chuckled sarcastically. Mordecai exhaled as I continued speaking, "do you seriously not remember what happened?"
"No, no, I do!" He took the seat across from me, "I'd just rather not think about it, "
"Not thinking about it won't make it go away, " I growled. Mordecai rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, I know..." He glanced away from me, his face screwed into this look of sadness.
It made me feel guilty.
"So why'd you do it?" Mordecai asked out of the blue. I looked confused.
"Do what?"
"Tell me. You know- about what happened?"
"Because you wouldn't stop asking about it!" I yelled, "What was I supposed to do?!" I clenched my fists.
Mordecai didn't respond. That same awkward, uncomfortable, and nerve-racking silence fell over us. I got deja vu from the sound of nothing.
"I'm sorry, " He sighed, "I shouldn't have done that. None of this should've happened, " he looked at me once more before hissing, "And maybe if you weren't so jealous, none of this would've happened!"
I froze, "no! Oh no! That's not what this is about! Don't make it seem like this is my fault!"
"It is your fault! I had no part in this. Everything was fine until you had to get jealous!" Mordecai argued.
I stopped. My breathing halted, too. The world around me seemed to slow down as I tried to process what he said.
Maybe... Maybe he is right...? I mean, he was acting normal. I'm the one who made this awkward. I'm the one who started arguing.
"I- uhm-, " I pushed my chair back, standing up, "I should just go, " I turned around and began walking, the tears stinging in my eyes. I was in shock.
But, just like when I walked away yesterday, he didn't stop me. He didn't say anything or try to make me feel better.
What was I to him? A joke!? Or maybe..
Maybe I'm just nothing to him...
((Woooo I actually wrote something XD I apologize that it's so short. I'll try to make chapter 10 longer.
Hope you enjoyed this very depressing chapter XD
