All she felt was darkness. She had no one in the world. She felt empty. She was the light...yet all she felt was despair.

Her life was tainted with a curse of sorts. Her family had died one by one by a mysterious illness, or on the battle field; yet she didn't know where it came from. It was immediate, almost. Her mother and brother received the illness from Akira herself. Akira's father, however, was not affected. He already had his fate set.

Akira used to exert (until she was able to control it) a deadly virus from her veins, her blood, into the air. 'Effect' particles flowed through her blood stream.

She realised it herself. She hated herself for it. She felt guilty. And even now she wouldn't come to terms with it.

"Mama...?" Akira's mother, Minori, was succumbing to her illness. Her lips were tainted with a dark blue hue, with trickles of crimson falling from her lips, to drip and fall onto the cloth placed below her mouth. Yellow, blue and orange veins spread across her skins in spectacular, yet ominous swirls of colour. Her red locks were messily presented across the cushion she layed her head against, her emerald spheres were now so dull; dark green with swirls of uncertainty.

Her brother, Asahi, was no better. He had veins across his skin, as well as blue lips. Yet his eyes seemed somewhat brighter than that of his mother's. He was now asleep, after groans of agony and spewing of blood mixed with ink. Her father, Touya, stayed sat beside his beloved's bed, fingers interlocked with hers as he placed a simple kiss. She managed a small smile.

"Mama...what's death?"
"Death happens to everyone at some time in their lives. Life is preparation for Death, the life after living."
"...when...will I die?"
"...promise me you won't ever do anything to put you in immediate danger. Promise me, you will live, love and protect. Could you...promise me that?" The dying female placed her hand on her daughter's face, and felt herself releasing one more tear...before closing her eyes.
"...yes...Mama. But-MAMA!" Her heart stopped, fingers devoid of motion. Her eyes processed nothing, no flicker of life presented itself. Even in death she smiled, with her skin as pale as snow, frozen by her side.

Minori was gone to the world. She had passed, and now, Death welcomed her with open arms. Yet, her tie to this world was not over quite yet. She kissed her daughter, on the forehead, which created a lotus, red in hue, to spiral across her forehead with the intensity of a flame. It was invisible to the human eye. Minori would watch her daughter...and make sure she kept her promise.

"Akira, you've been accepted as an official Anbu. I'm so proud, my little lotus." Touya embraced the rather fiery tempered female, smiling as she started to laugh as he tickled her. "They sent someone around your age to come get you..."
"Someone...my age?"
"Mhm, "he spoke softly, placing her down on the floor. He started to stir the rice anti-clockwise. "It seems, like you, she has hidden potential and great strength." The door bell rang. Akira ran up to the door and opened it, and stared at the female, wearing a rabbit mask, in confusion.

"Ehhh...?"
"..."
Akira's eyes narrowed slightly as she huffed, annoyed by the fact she couldn't see her face, and refused to talk to her. "Who the fuck-"
"-Akira-"
"-who the hell are ya?"
"Yukiya. An Anbu. Have been for three months."
"Yukiya...? A must 'ave heard that some where before..."
"She's from the Hidden Mist Village. Came here exactly three months ago."
Yukiya bowed. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Akira."
"...sure...oookkkk."
