Hinata and Neji both entered the arena whilst staring at each other with a determined gaze. Whilst Akira was indeed best friends with Hinata, Yukiya was closer to her in that respect. Akira seemed to be closer to Naruto. Yukiya's heart twisted with uncertainty and worry. Her hands wrapped around the banister which caused layers of ice to form and thicken. Everyone stepped back from the one named "Ice Maiden" with caution.

"I never thought I would be fighting you." Neji started, getting into a fighting stance much like Hinata.
"Nor did I, brother." Hinata replied with a determined spark in her eye. She was strong despite not entirely knowing it quite yet. She was strong physically and mentally. She just needed the right person to see it, to tell her.

"What?! They're brother and sister?!"
"Well sort of, but not really. They're more like cousins than siblings." The confusion Naruto had experienced seemed to be forgotten and left to die much like Yukiya's dead goldfish.
"Still they're family. Family shouldn't be fighting."
"Hinata, withdraw from this fight. You know you can't win." Neji spoke which caused Hinata's eyes to widen from this blatant order. She was quite surprised for him to declare this in front of everyone:she knew he thought she was weak, and has tried to be the strongest member of their clan. To make a difference. "You never wanted to take this exam. But you couldn't bear to let your teammates down these exams require a three-man squad."
"No, that's not true. I wanted to take the exam to see if I was strong."
"You'll never be strong. You're too gentle and kind. All you crave is harmony." Due to this attempt to get under her skin, which worked, Hinata started to hyperventilate, trying to avoid eye contact but fails in her attempt. Neji starts to mention her ticks and nerves. 

"Hinata! Are you gonna let Neji talk to you like that?! Who does he think he is, telling what you can and can't do?! Be strong!" Naruto shouted his praise at Hinata: this made her snap out of her daze.
"YOU KICK HIS ARSE AND SHOW HIM HOW STRONG YOU ARE. EVEN IF YOU DON'T KICK HIS ARSE, YOU ARE STRONG. PLUS IF YOU CANNOT/CAN'T WE WILL!" The very aggressive Yukiya and Akira shrieked at the same time, arms linked together as they stood on top of the bars (with an annoyed Kakashi slamming his fist into their heads as Zabuza threatens to plummet Kakashi himself. This also led to an over PG joke that I am not authorized to tell.)

Due to the praise and cheers from Naruto, Yukiya and Akira, the fire of determination dwelled within her spheres. Neji sighed in realisation and murmured something close to "so be it." Both cousins ended up doing the appropriate hand signs.
"Byakugan!" They both activated their kekkei genkai and continued to fight. They were both equally compatible in taijutsu, yet Neji had more power. Hinata was a rather graceful fighter and she was definitely a capable opponent. She continued to counter attack and dodge his attacks: just as she was about to deliver an attack to the opening, Neji moved at the last second and delivered a blow to her chest.

"Hinata!"
"That bastard!" Everyone stared in awe at the action before them and gasped in surprise. Yukiya had gripped the edge of the railing so hard it was beginning to crack. Sasuke, the poor soul, had his arm tightly grasped by Akira as she worriedly watched Hinata. Hinata began to slowly attack, but Neji continued to dodge and was mercilessly toying with her. They started to clash: Neji performed Gentle Fist on her heart: she coughed up even more blood.
"Proctor, it's over. Call off the match."
"No! Don't call off the match!" Everyone watches as Hinata struggles to get up.

"Do you want you want to die?"
"I'm not the only one that is suffering. You are suffering as well. Being born on the lower branch." Hinata spoke with a flare to her tone. He was about to attack her but he was restrained by some Jounins.
"So this is the privilege of being in the higher branch." Just as this was softly spoken, Hinata coughed up more blood and collapsed. Just in time, Yukiya caught her best friend, feeling the rhythm of her heart with her fingers. It was fainter than she first anticipated. Her eyes widened in realisation. He was intending to kill her...

"We need a medic!" Yukiya followed the medical ninja into the medical wing and disappeared for quite a while. Whilst this was going on, Naruto swore an oath to take revenge on Neji for Hinata. He surely would.

Kankuro walked up to Naruto and Akira who were discussing something. "What's the deal with Neji?" Kankuro asks.
"The deal is, I'm gonna pulverise him." Naruto clenched his fist in anger: Akira was the same, anger swelled within her veins. Akira nodded in agreement with her hands in her pockets. All that Kankuro could do is sweat drop. The computer started to match up the next opponents.
"You're in trouble, Choji." Shikamaru spoke.
"What do you mean?"
"There's only strong opponents left. You have the sound guy, Lee has been matched up with the sand guy. I have a bad feeling about him." Choji began to sweat at this. Gaara teleported into the arena before his name was called.
"Lee, this could be it! You'll be next, I'm sure of it." Gai excitedly explained. What he said next surprised both Gai and Sakura.
"I don't care. It has been so long, I might as well go last." Lee spoke.

"Lee vs Gaara!"

Lee walked down to the arena and took his stance. He stared at Akira one last time and formed a heart with his fingers. She blushed softly, looking away in embarrassment. He dedicated this match to Akira, and promised himself he would win.

Naruto said, "Bushy brows will win."
"Begin."

Can Lee beat Gaara? Will he make Akira fall in love with him? I doubt it. Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z Kai! Find out in the next episode: "Sand and Faulty Injury".
