There's no amount of sleep that could erase the full body exhaustion that clings to me when I peel my eyes open the following morning, my thighs strain as I shift in my bed, tense from holding myself open over Kyle's face. Which is not a sentence I ever thought I would be saying.
Logically I know that they are rarely beside me when I wake up, for the most part I think they stick around so I don't feel used. I suppose I probably would be if they left me immediately after, but I still know what it's happening, I'm not completely blind to our bond, the way the tether between us all makes contact heightened.
I also know that they use to distract me, to bring my emotions back down to a safer level, I haven't said anything, truthfully, I don't mind the distraction. It's better than constantly feeling overrun by the onslaught of emotions and thoughts knocking around in my head. They haven't said anything about it in weeks, but I know as much as they love it, they worry that if I get too overwhelmed that maybe we will all find out something we are better off ignoring.
Things with Rhydian have been better, even if its surface-level and not the deeper knowledge of him that I would enjoy. They keep me safe, I feel cared for, it's an emotional companionship that I never thought I would find important, perhaps find at all.
It feels like yesterday took a sledgehammer to my brain, the fight with Colton, meeting Mady, to Kyle finally joining Selena in her exploration rather than watching heatedly. I've had a threesome, that's a lot to take in, especially when I have never taken a cock.
It feels like I have perhaps missed a step in all of that and yet, it doesn't feel like something I should do with them, maybe yet maybe ever.
No doubt it'll have everything to do with Rhydian, I have no idea what came over me but for a moment I wondered if I was going to actually kill the woman. Then pass out, because the hot rush of rage, and accompanying jealousy that took hold of my body is not something so easily explained.
Sure, I'm attracted to the man, but it was more than that, it was about her.
My eyes catch on the note that's resting on my bedside table, scrawled in Kyle's messing writing. 'Come Rhydian's office when you wake up, Mady in town, we'll be there all day'
It makes sense why they don't mind me making the trek with a guest on the grounds everyone is busy, and with her out of the estate, I can make the journey without having my throat ripped out. As happy as it makes me to not have to spend the whole day inside like I thought, I can't help but worry about what could be keeping them so occupied too, I might not have been the most level-headed last night but there was no death, so I can't be in too much trouble if that's what this is about.
The halls might be safer today than they usually are but that doesn't stop me from hugging the wall and hurrying through the hallways, attempting to blend into the stone walls around me. A rather cold structure but I suppose they don't care for plaster.
A long sigh of relief escapes from my burning lungs when the dark wood doors of Rhydian's office come into view, I practically plaster myself against the wood once I'm safe inside. Only to be slapped in the face with the heavy fog of unmistakable tension.
Sel and Kyle are sitting on two of the three chairs in front of his desk, Selena's leg bouncing anxiously as she smiles over at me. The last time they all looked at me like this, Rhydian thought I was going to kill everyone. Not even the soft look in Rhydian's jade eyes is enough to calm my racing heart.
Smoothing my hands against my jumper, I approach them, "Am I in trouble again?"
Taking my seat on the edge next to Selena, I let the sharp sting of their silence batter against my skin, popping the bubble they put me in last night. ""What happened last night Evelyn?"
