You know that feeling, where it seems as though things are going to well for them to be real? That's the feeling that lingers since last night, as well as a nudge of pain between my thighs and the constant craving for more.
Ever since things started with Selena and Kyle, I have learnt a lot about myself, mostly, that when given the chance to open up to that side of myself I am a far more sexual person than I would have firth thought. Only it's different with Rhydian, it's this overwhelming need that's etched into my very bones and it's a startling realisation to come too.
Not when the man is constantly busy, and we are still hiding the true nature of our relationship from the unwelcome woman who's continuing to skulk around the castle. Which for the record, is to me, reason enough to at least speak to her about the three dead vampires that were found, coincidentally the ones who were trailing her.
I mean really, if she's innocent and a victim like she says, then what's the harm in asking someone casual questions?
In any case its perhaps a good thing that I haven't seen Rhydian in the four days since he took my virginity on his desk, my cheeks are permanently stained red from just thinking about it. I don't know how I am supposed to then walk into his office and talk about Mady and my supposed magic, without drawing everyone's attention to where my traitorous thoughts have led me.
Either way, things have been moving along a little too smoothly for my liking, hence the constant anxiety that something awful is about to happen. I don't think Rhydian has told Sel and Kyle what happened between us, but does he need too? The hobbling I did around the bathroom the day after was undoubtedly the only clue they needed.
Then, there's also the constant anxiety that every time I fall asleep, I am going to find myself within more of their memories. It was hard enough seeing the master bond be formed, and the change of my soulmate- which apparently transcends time- that I worry about seeing something even more graphic than that.
Comparing the Rhydian from those memories to know leaves me with more questions than answers, especially after learning they are the only two people he ever turned. It doesn't seem like he has any interest in following his Mother's parting words to her son and finding his own crown and getting revenge on the people who let him down.
I can only assume that finding Kyle was a happy accident, looking for someone he could trust, and he must have seen something in Kyle that the man didn't see in himself. Whereas what he did with Selena was selfless, he erased the awful power and life imbalance that existed between Vampire and human by changing her.
I keep wondering how her family reacted when she never returned, Rhydian said they would receive the food she bought but how hard did they grieve, was their life easier when she was gone?
The whole situation makes me think of Monica, of whether she would have given up on finding me yet, does she think I am dead or have just abandoned her. I know they said they set her up with everything she needed to succeed but does she have a new best friend? Is whoever she surrounds herself with now a better match for what she needed that I never gave, did they push her to face her trauma?
Is she better off without me, than she ever was with me?
"Sel?" I call out from the bathroom, blinking away the dark thoughts, refocusing on the straightener gliding down the faint pink strands of my hair.
Poking her head through the open bathroom door, twinkling chocolate eyes accompany the wide smile on her face, meeting my gaze in the mirror. "You called?"
"I have an odd question for you" I explain, waiting as she glides into the room, hoping up onto the edge of the counter, burgundy curls falling down her shoulders. "It's been on my mind for a while"
