Chapter 7: The Bargain

            As weeks passed by, I became comfortable with Albert being my seatmate. I also made friends, most especially with Rain. I also had a close friend inside the room. It was Ariana. She was beautiful and I really like her as a friend. She was smart and gorgeous. We always had lunch together.

            "What's the matter?" I asked Ariana upon seeing her face that looked so bothered as if she had made a very serious mistake.

            " Nothing. It's just that—"

            " What?"

            "I received a love letter today." She said while half smiling.

            "Oh yeah? Who sent it?" I asked curiously. She took the letter out of her bag and showed it to me. It was a scented paper with a faded heart in the center of it. I read it.

Dear Ariana,

            How are you? I wish you're alright upon reading this letter. Let me introduce myself, I am a guy. I am your age and since the day I saw you, I started having a crush on you. I don't know what you did to me but I think I need to confess this feeling of mine. I hope you understand. Can you meet me at the back of your room around 12:30? I promise it won't take long. However, if you think that I am not worth your attention, then please disregard this letter.

            "Who is this secret admirer of yours?" I asked.

            "I don't know" she shrugged.

            "Hmm. Isn't it so sweet?"

            "I don't know. Shall I go or not?" she asked.

            "You should see him. Whoever wrote this must really be in love with you. I'm starting to feel jealous of you."

            "Why?"

            "I haven't received a single letter since I came here to this school."

            " Oh come on, it's not what you think it is."

            After we took our lunch, we headed to our room and then went to the back. I'm starting to feel jittery, it's like I was the one who was going to meet this mysterious guy. After a while, I saw an outline of the back of a guy who looked so familiar. Then it struck me, it was Rain. I can't believe that Rain was my secret admirer of Ariana. It just didn't occur to me that he had a thing for Ariana and here I am thinking that he would notice me but it seems that she noticed Ariana first.

            "OMG! Ariana, there he is," I said while pointing at Rain.

            "What?" Ariana said while looking at Rain who was standing, facing the other side.

            "Go!" I said as I pushed Ariana towards Rain who immediately turned with a very polite smile. As soon as I heard them talking, I went away and went inside the room. There's no use continuing staring at them knowing that I would just hurt myself. I sat at my desk and got my cellphone, and put my earphones on. I thought I would just listen to some music just to get my mind off them. I started listening to K-POP music when my left earphone was snatched by someone. It was Albert who smiled very widely.
