"Girl what are you talking about?"Zaria couldn't help but laugh as a drunk Lisa tried to tell her a story. It was well past 1am, and Zaria wanted nothing more than to curl up in bed.
"I just think that's neat." A fit of giggles escaped Lisa as she began playing with the candle in the center of the table. Rolling her eyes Zaria took it from her, blew out the flame, then handed it back to her.
"I'm going to get you some water. Stay right here." Walking towards the bar, Zaria periodically looked back to make sure Lisa wasn't going anywhere. Bumping into someone Zaria quickly turned her head to apologize. Max stood before her- his expensive suit now covered in alcohol.
"Fuck! I'm so sorry." Zaria awkwardly patted the wet spot on his chest unsure of what to do. He quickly grabbed her wrist, stopping her fumbling.
"It's fine Ms. Hopkins." The formal address made her want to crawl in a hole and die. She knew she'd hurt his feelings when he'd realized what Trey and her where planning on doing. A part of her wanted to curse him out for being such a hypocrite, but she knew before getting into this she wouldn't be the only one.
She nodded slightly before taking a step away from him. Before she could fully turn to continue on her journey, he spoke up.
"Follow me, Ms. Hopkins." Zaria followed him out of the ballroom and down the hall. He led the pair into the men's bathroom and locked the door behind them. Zaria's stomach shot to her throat as she realized the position she was in right now.
"So? What'd you want to talk about?" She leaned against the door watching as he stood by the sink, staring at her through the mirror.
"What were you thinking?" His voice was low and Zaria unconsciously stepped closer to hear what he'd said.
"I'm sorry?"
"With Trey. What were you thinking on doing?" Zaria felt like someone had punched her in the stomach. His eyes had yet to leave hers in the mirror and his stale face did little to ease her. She nervously shifted from one foot to the other.
"Nothing." She saw him roll his eyes before suddenly turning to her.
"Do you want to know what I was thinking about doing to Alexandria?" The sentence made her feel sick. Her blood boiled as she thought about them together.
"Not particularly."
"I was going to parade her around like some trophy for all these old fucks in suits to stare at like meat. Then I was going to take her back to my place and fuck her until her throat was raw from screaming my name." He took steps closer as he described his intentions with Alexandria. Zaria found herself cornered against the wall as he continued to go into detail about the things he'd do to Alexandria.
"Okay! Okay! I get it!" She yelled as she pushed against his chest. He instead placed his hands on the wall next to her head and leaned to look into her eyes.
"No, you don't Zaria. I've been honest with you from the jump. I told you, you weren't going to be the only one. I'm not your boyfriend. I say that to say this- my intentions with you never changed. You agreed to this as a grown woman. I told you I don't share, but you go and give Trey what belongs to me."
"I didn't fuck him!" Zaria interrupted as Max laid into her. She couldn't help but grasp for something to defend herself against Max's words. Her stomach churned because he spoke nothing but the truth.
"But you thought about it enough to agree to leaving with him, no?" Max rose an eyebrow as he waited for her to make another excuse. Zaria looked away unable to defend her actions.
