Gossip, laughter and snoring sounds filled the classroom early in the morning. The first class hasn't even started yet some already have so many things to say while some didn't even bother showing up.
The bell rings but no one bothers going back to their seats. Why? Because they don't have a teacher anymore. The homeroom teacher, Lee Dongyoon, committed suicide two days ago.
It was unexpected but nobody was taken by surprise. Everyone was aware of the problems he's had not only with his family but his students and the school committee. Which is why students and teachers can afford to laugh as if nothing had happened. Nobody liked him in the first place. Except for one student, Chittaphon, aka Ten.
Ten was particularly close to Mr. Lee. As the class representative, he had to meet him outside class hours more often than he wanted to. At first, he hated that his precious time was being taken away by his foolish teacher, however he had gotten used to it and somehow, he ended up enjoying his teacher's company.
Ten didn't come to school the day his teacher died, nor the following day. He caught a cold the day Mr. Lee passed away and the news only made it worse.
Saying that he was devasted is an understatement. He spent the whole day mourning his teacher while his friends and classmates made fun of him for feeling pity for their homeroom teacher. But he didn't care. He was the only one by his teacher's side. Ten felt regretful and ashamed of himself for not being able to help his depressed teacher.
Ten couldn't understand why his teacher suddenly committed suicide. To him it was a sudden death for he had thought that his teacher had gotten better. Ten noticed that Mr. Lee had been smiling more often and that he seemed livelier than before.
Was it all fake then? Ten thought the day his teacher left.
Finally, he came to school today after missing nearly a week of classes.
Unexpectedly, the principal came during homeroom time with a new girl.
"Class! Please go back to your seats, I have an important announcement to make. As you can see, you have a new addition to the class and until we find a new teacher, I will oversee this class." The principal announced. He then turned to the transferee, "Introduce yourself please, Ms. Manoban."
Stepping forward, her blonde hair shuffling along her brand-new skirt, her brown eyes then scanning the whole room carelessly, finally with a deep breath, she spoke.
"I'm Lalisa, call me whatever you want, I don't really care."
The whole room seemed taken aback and insulted by her nonchalant and rude attitude.
"You must be thinking that I'm rude or that I'm a bitch or whatever but let me tell you something, I don't wanna be here. So, all I'm asking from you guys is to let me finish the year quietly." She continued, her voice contained power and confidence. It sent shivers down the other students' spine.
