It was a Sunday morning.

The first time that I met you.

You stood there like a lost puppy, looking around for a way back home.

Little did you know; you didn't have a home to go back to anymore.

You weren't aware of the car accident that killed both of your parents, my mom and Alice.

You were our late security captain's son and I was the little princess of this castle.

I could remember it clearly because you were the first person to look at me in the eye.

You approached me first although you were in an unfamiliar place.

Those daring steps you took when you came to me, who was crying after I learned the death of my mom and my older sister.

I felt so sorry towards you when they pushed you away while all you wanted to do was lend me a hand.

You were my first friend in that lonely place. The only one who truly comforted me.

You were my first teacher. I still remember all the wounds we got when you were teaching me how to ride a bike. You got scolded so much for making me do something they considered dangerous and I thought we wouldn't be able to spend time together so the young reckless me barged into my father's bedroom in the middle of the night and begged him to forgive you. My father was obviously so surprised. After all it was the first time his daughter asked him for a favor. At that moment, he understood that you were special to me and trained you so that you could stay by my side.

At that time, I was angry. I hated him for stealing you from me. I also hated you for making time for me. I shut myself in my room and cried every night. Then one evening, you were there standing by my bedroom door. That I locked- may I remind you. You picked the lock and with a confident grin you were watching me, waiting for my reaction. You clearly didn't expect that I would throw my pillows at you because you couldn't dodge them even with all the training you've been receiving.

At fourteen years old, you made my heart flutter when you protected me from a bully. Especially when you held my hand, and hid me behind your back.

At fifteen years old, you were forced to attend classes with me; to stick by my side all day. I knew you hated it. I could see in your eyes that you wanted to be with those who had the same interests as you, people of your age, people you liked. I wanted to tell you to go and have fun but the selfish part of myself told me that if I let you go; you might never come back. And I hated that thought. I didn't want you to leave me like anyone else did after using me.

I'm sure you'd noticed that I kept saying I was unwell. I really was. I had depression. The psychologist told me that it must've started when I lost the dearest people in my life, mom and Alice. I decided that it was the end for us. I didn't want to drag you in the mess that I was. I cut you off and asked my dad to let you enjoy your life instead of being glued to me all year. He was hesitant for he knew that you could give me happiness. He knew that you could brighten my whole day with just one word. Nonetheless, he did as I asked. How could he reject his daughter's wishes?
